Electrify America Fines EV Owners for Charging Beyond 85%
Electrify America is about to change the game for EV owners by implementing a new system that penalizes drivers who charge their electric vehicles beyond 85% battery capacity. According to recent reports, the chargers will automatically cut off at 85%, followed by a 10-minute grace period. If the EV remains plugged in after this, a penalty of 40 cents per minute will be imposed. This measure aims to combat "charge hogs" who occupy charging stations longer than necessary, making the system more efficient for everyone. Initially, this will be tested at 10 of Electrify America’s busiest stations in California. How will this impact your charging habits? Will other networks like Tesla follow suit?
