Having a game dev who already just has shittons of money and their purpose is to have fun and make great games, that is the opposite of Bobby Kotick and the general AAA industry. Notch could be a second Jesus for the gaming industry, next to Swen Vincke.
Ответить"I don't know how he got the idea". He played a game called Infiniminer by Zachtronics, which was 'a first-person competitive mining game that takes place in a procedurally generated [3D] block world'. At the time, Notch had been working on a clone of Dwarf Fortress called RubyDung. He was then inspired to move RubyDung forward more in the infiniminer direction of first person perspective rather than the top down DF style. What resulted was a game that marries the best aspects (for what Notch was making) of infiniminer and dwarf fortress.
ОтветитьI disagree the idea was not "unheard of", not at all its literally based on a another game.
The thing that made Minecraft "blow up" was literally the creepers.
Everyone can make a sandbox game, and the graphics was shit, what got everyone on minecraft was that was actually in the start the minecarts (at least thats why i got the alpha game) and what was shown in on the Minecraft page
But riding mine cards and setting blocks would not have gotten alot of players in ahd there not been these pesky monsters that constantly destroyed you work and killed you.
This with the feeling of a infinit world with blocks was the combo that got things rolling, and was also a game that came out in a time were everyone was racing for better graphics.
Placing blocks was not "unheard of" placing blocks AND fighting monsters that was the ! part that got people playing
so he got lucky? 🙂↔️
Ответитьyou did no research for the minecraft portion lol
ОтветитьWhy Thomas is such gigaChad irl, damn
ОтветитьI would never expect that guy to buy and spent money on such a house...
Ответить"making money gets boring". LOL.
I wish I was as bored as Notch making money.
He got his idea from infiniminer
ОтветитьAs much as I love Minecraft, the idea of block placing and breaking and mining, it wasn't "unheard" of. Not at all. There were at least 2 predecessors before Minecraft. Just FYI...
"Notch is Minecraft. Minecraft is Notch"? Well... just don't forget about all those controversial years with his success, Notch starts dumping random crap on Minecraft itself, which led most of the Minecraft community turned on him.
And... why shouldn't anyone create their own engines? Computers have been around for less than a hundred years, and game industry is merely about half of that. Throwing the word "never" around like that seems a bit...... naive. It's almost like everyone has already figured out "absolutely everything" when it comes to making video games within a few decades, and nobody "should never ever ever" try new things altogether, like, at all.
Making games is all fun and well, until it actually became a business. Then you'll have to start thinking about logistics, finances, communication flows within your teams, various other administrations, marketing, etc etc.
Don't take me wrong. "Inspiration messages" like these are just misleading at the best case scenario. It doesn't help the newcomers (whether they'd be programmers or game devs) to point them in the right direction, it doesn't actually give experienced developers any practical advices. Veterans... well, they'd just shrug and leave.
does he still use java?
Ответитьdont forget he outbid like kanye or jayz on the property, what a gansta programmers all day
ОтветитьThe journey of making a game and seeing it be enjoyed by other people is the pinnacle of gave development, imo at least
Ответитьyou clearly haven't done proper research on the origins of minecraft and its inspirations, you're also massively overhyping notch as this legendary game developer and way over-sympathizing with him, he's a billionaire and an abhorrent person
ОтветитьNah, what we can learn from notch is that it fun to build games, its also fun to make a ton of money, and then when you go back to making games again, you suddenly have the financial freedom to create whatever you want, in the timespan you want and you can order uber eats everyday.
ОтветитьSo... In the end what happened with the whole transphobia situation? I never looked into that
ОтветитьBro made a new survival save
Ответитьgoosebump
ОтветитьA Bit Shift is an optimization trick that is top-notch. He probably wants to make a fully optimized game with a proper programming language, using all the most advanced tricks he can to make it run smoothly.
ОтветитьHe says, don't do this thing. But when notch does it, it adds a notch flavor... Thats called originality
ОтветитьNotch is a Nazi, nobody likes him
ОтветитьYou seem such a big fan of notch but it seems like you're ignoring all the critiques about him when he was posting antisemitic and racist stuff and to me - so far and maybe i lost track/interest in him as a person - its not really clear if its good to celebrate a person like that with this level of fanboy-ism of yours.
his games have no "unique" look to me its just "developer art" which results from him adding new features and somehow tests them and the tested versions are that what you're celebrating so much. but thats probably the same as with art: its subjective
Well said .. that mansion is cool for flexing but for living I would buy much much better AND much much cheaper houses. Somewhere in nature, with fireplace, stone and wood walls .. something cozy and like big cabin/house
ОтветитьMore people should create their own engine (if they can afford it)
ОтветитьHe is the true embodiment of what it means to be a programmer. We are way better off and happier living in a one room apartment programming all day and smashing our heads worrying about nasty bugs than live in a mansion. He got a little bit corrupt, ig, for a few years but now he got back his soul(or so I think)
ОтветитьDamn. I paid 26 bucks to an anti semetic in 2011. At least he’s still lonely.
ОтветитьGlazing notch so hard bro
ОтветитьNotch's story: Tune from Jungle Book Song I Wanna Be Like You "I've reached the top and had to stop and that's what's bothering me!"
But now
Now that's he's free from his shackles of depression and corporate life, he can start back from the bottom and work himself back to the top.
Being the very best isn't always good. It means no one can surpass you, no one can stand up to you.
And that's just no fun.
Notch doesn't deserve any more money or attention after his twitter shit
ОтветитьNotches opinions are my favorite thing about him
ОтветитьDON'T TRUST HIM !! HE IS A BIG SPAMMER !!
ОтветитьMarkus Persson want to buy the company back. Microsoft refuses accept billionaire dollar offer. it's like trading baseball card. Microsoft says want 4-5 billion....
Markus felt like his baby game company was kidnapped by Microsoft. lol.... ransome.
Maybe he can make a free engine for all like godot, he dont need more Money but this could be fun and kindly.
ОтветитьIt's kinda sad he went from a huge indie developer to turning on all of his friends due to his ego and becoming a huge conspiracy nut, racist, and sexist.
ОтветитьIf it's the real treasure then let like creating games and making a games to do if it's the real treasure stop saying stuff is not worth people's time if they want to do it
ОтветитьIts sad that you had to include "Minecraft creator" in the title when it said notch...
Ответитьlol notch was my developer im the founder of moajng
ОтветитьMeh
Ответитьmaybe the real game is the friends we made across the way
ОтветитьAlso, 4J studios (the studio behind console editions) is working on a new game
ОтветитьMicrosoft (Minecraft) is anti life!
ОтветитьLord Jesus bless you all!
ОтветитьA LOT OF INDIE DEVEOLOPERS SUCH AS MYSELF PREFER TO USE CUSTOM ENGINES .... ID SAY ITS A LOT BETTER ... IF I GET PROBLEMS IN UNITY IT DRIVES ME NUTS AND I END UP GOING CRAZY ... BUT IF I SCREW UP ON MY OWN ENGINE ... THTS MY PROBLEM AND I CA EASILY GO BACK AND FIX IT ... HIGHLY RECCOMENDED
Ответитьnotch got the idea for minecraft from infinaminer
Ответить
