A buddy of mine likes the show, but i haven't watched it. Not planning on it, really.

It is ok, I think. The main problem is the rights they bought basically mean it has to contain a lot of fan-fiction. They should have bought the Silmarillion rights and then they'd have a goldmine.

Yeah, my wife insisted that I gag through S1 of RoP with her and I was in AGONY the whole time. I’m not a Tolkien fan but even I could readily see what a brutal raping of the alleged “source material” this shit was. As for “woke” Hollywood, I’ll just continue to enjoy my extensive DVD collection of The Good Stuff.

I can't for the life of me summon a single ounce of interest in any aspect of the show, it's weak fantasy at best and does nothing for LoTR as a franchise.

S1 was that bad I didn't look at S2 because I didn't want to watch them demolishing even more of Tolkien's lore.

There is NO controversy about ROP. Everyone knows that it is the worst piece of garbage ever produced. Hopefully, they will cancel it.

There's nothing in the series that is remotely connected to the novels, and the characters created are a joke and an insult to Tolkien. Avoid at all cost .

Haven't watched any of it. Been reading Tolkien from The Hobbit to Lord of The Rings when I was a kid in the 70's. People will still be enjoying Tolkien's books when the ROP show has been relegated to The Internet Archive. If you like and watch ROP then good, I'll stick to the books thank you.

It looks good but I think Tolkien wouldn’t approve of it. If you have nothing else to do than watch it, if you think you’re going to get a continuation of the Lord of the rings or the hobbit you’re not. Yes I know it’s a prequel and most prequels don’t do well.

Why do they bleed money on that atrocity but cancel Wheel of Time that was much better? Go figure. Just cancel it and make a mea culpa to all Tolkien fans.

Never watched it or wheel of time and dont want to watch either of them.
I would have preferred they not make either of these shows and put the money from these shows towards making a Stargate movie or show.
I originally got prime & paramount for 2 shows i hoped to see.
1. Star Trek(all the new stuff which has not been done that well in my eyes)
2. Stargate(coz i head that Amazon/prime brought the rights to the show)

Trying to get someone to pick up RoP would be an impossible sale for anyone with an IQ higher than their age. It's like trying to sell a new street drug that has the health effects of fentanyl, but provides the enjoy-ability of getting tasered in the crotch.

I saw the awful interview with so called "Superfans". It looked (and sounded) like a DEI gay pride meeting and I thought "Yup, that's another franchise shat upon!". Didn't bother to watch after that, because I knew it would be cringe.

The rings of power is Jeff bezos pet project , at the moment it protected by the boss. In normal world rings would been axed alone side wheele of time.

At the current rate of improvement, we might get a really "GOOD" season in 600 years.

I only managed to watch the first 4 episodes of this woke nonsense then gave up. Mind you that's 4 more than the number of episodes of the even more woke Dr Who crap that is dying too.

ROP S2 is visually stunning as is S1. Peter Jackson’s LOTR trilogy set the bar ridiculously high. As something I’ve already paid for with my Amazon Prime fee, it’s OKAY. I wasn’t expecting a masterpiece. Some of the characterizations in S2 are kind of stupid, but the acting is very good given the meh they’ve been handed. And there are some stupid things like Orc families with babies, which a giant WTF. Meh all around IMHO.

Another example of writers/showrunners who think they know the source material better than the fucking creator.

I’ve watched both seasons. Season 2 is an improvement but it’s still not great or even good IMO. It absolutely kills me to see so much money and talent poured into a show that just does not deserve it. It’s just not compelling. The characters are thin. It just feel like pointless backstory to LOTR that no one needed.

I just love how Amazon inked a deal with The Chosen to help fund future seasons and bring the show to Amazon Prime Video.

Just cancel Rings of Power. There’s no saving it. It completely misses the heart of Tolkien’s world—no soul, no magic, nothing that feels true to Middle-earth. The writing is shallow, the pacing’s a mess, and visually it looks like a generic fantasy show. It doesn’t respect the source material, and it’s honestly painful to watch. It’s not worth fixing—it just needs to end.
