As a teenager in the 1960’s I played a Bach Stradivarius with a 5C. Very satisfying mouthpiece. Nice big, rich sound. I think the horn came with a 5B. Those were my glory days...first chair in the NJ All State band in 9th grade!
Anyway, I continued to play through college, then gave up. Wish I hadn’t. There’s so much great tutorial info available on line.
I am currently playing monette 4s. Having problem with endurance. How does your 5 compare with my monette size wise?

I recently recorded some demos for a young classical composer, and she made me do everything from high fanfares, low legato notes, triple tonguing and a blues cadenza towards the end of her piece. I had just got this ACB 5C off a colleague and it did a great job. Even when you use a lot of air and tongue, the 5C seems to keep everything contained within safe limits (no screeching and blaring), and it makes it easy to change register and volume. While I would not use it for cutting or blasting through an oversized orchestra, it works really well for me for piano recital, recording and ensemble. Produces a "well behaved" sound in the best sense.
ОтветитьI've actually started using the ACB 5c on my YTR 6810 piccolo trumpet. It still gives you all the high range, but with a less piping/piercing tone!
ОтветитьI just got mine in today with an acrylic top. Developed an allergy and had to say goodbye to my beloved mouthpieces. 😭
I must say that this is the best 5C rim I've ever used. Perfect width and flatness, and you managed to keep the bite. Bravo
If it turns out that I can play on gold, you will get another sale. 🤣
