ОтветитьCommander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen 😅
ОтветитьI am sixty seven years old and still this song gets me going.
ОтветитьNow that's good times music right there
ОтветитьCommander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen got famous singing this long--- their biggest hit and best verson of this song for sure! 👍🤚👳♂️🎯❗
ОтветитьI saw Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach almost 50 years ago. 😮
ОтветитьHey we are friends we've hung out dork search me I'm fun love you and I remember quite smoking your uour own not a dork so much fun
ОтветитьFor those who don't know: Check out the Charlie Ryan cover from 1948
ОтветитьAs a 11 year old midwestern farm boy who would frenetically bounce off the walls every time this song was played I had no idea what or where the “Grapevine Hill” is or was. 20 years later when I was crossing Santa Clarita, heading for Bakersfield then Fresno for the first time - All I could think about was Commander C and the Hot…….Rod……..Lincoln.
ОтветитьI have heard many versions of this song from many performers. This one is excellent; it's just so much FUN!!!!
ОтветитьI recall Johnny Bond's 1960 version and if you can hear it, do so. You're in for a treat. The guitar just carries you along in the Lincoln coup that night. It's still my favorite version of all. True rockabilly at its finest.
ОтветитьOnly two versions of this song that I like, the one by Commander Cody and his lost planet airmen and this Asleep at the wheel version.
ОтветитьRay is a musical genius! Cheers.
ОтветитьI drove mopars Dad never told me to stop driving them he told me to slow down it makes my heart stop when i see daylight under the car.
ОтветитьThis song was the first 45 I ever bought for you youngsters that’s a record licorice pizza!!! I believe I bought “ride captain ride” by Blue Image at the same time? Oh and I’m Your Puppet by James &Bobby!! lol😂
ОтветитьIsso é simplesmente fantástico
ОтветитьThe band I played in back in the late 70's use to play this and it was always a crowd favorite. Come to think of it, it was the bands fav too.
ОтветитьI've loved this song since the original came out many decades ago. This was a GREAT cover. Ray was just superb and Cindy totally killed it!
ОтветитьMrs Cashdollar made this song fun!
ОтветитьLike commander Codys version and AATW does a great job with it too
ОтветитьRichard said okay look that was my position before.....ummm 4 years ago and he just kept making us all kinds of money
ОтветитьBefore commander Cody was Charlie Ryan
Ответитьthe second record i bought as a kid i wore it out and drove the family crazy i bought that record with pop bottle money 10 yrs old 1972
ОтветитьI saw AATW last week. Still superb! Thanks Ray!
ОтветитьBoy this guy butched this song bigtime!! Get the hook!!
ОтветитьIt was 1973 in my 1967 mustang fastback 428 four speed top loader and 9 inch rear end with hot rod Lincoln on the radio
ОтветитьYou got it all right.
ОтветитьThis song comes from "Hot rod race" off the 60's album Shut Down. He was the guy driving the Model A
ОтветитьI think this the best version; kudos to Commander Cody .
ОтветитьI'm home Mr. Jones from Harvard.🕎
ОтветитьI always called AATW and Commander Cody Texas Swing.
ОтветитьDamn, Ray benson could play the hell out of a guitar
ОтветитьWhen they wrote good story songs!
ОтветитьI set up the piano for them in 91 on auditorium shores in Austin. When they were walking iff stage i told him he had a great show. He waljed up to me n shook my hand. Thought nothing of it but my crew looked at me like i just spoke to god. Good memory of a great show
Ответить1990 ??
ОтветитьAwesome
ОтветитьShot rod Lincoln
ОтветитьSimply a classic.
If it's not already there, it belongs in the hillbilly rock n roll hall of fame.
The words, tempo, chords, instruments.
They all come together and paint a picture.
I couldn't dance to it, maybe others can.
But, it's simply a great song.
Who wouldn't like to test drive that car?
No seat belts.
But wasn't this commander cody and his guys tune.
Western rap that a person can understand. There’s an idea!
ОтветитьFrank Zappa!
Ответитьgood I'll take Commander Cody original
ОтветитьI was in the Atlanta Airport wasting time. I saw a man sitting by himself drinking. I didn't have any idea who I was sharing a drink and telling stories. It turned out it was Johnny Paycheck. The man I talked with was not what people think of Johnny Paycheck. A gentleman and a personable guy. He is country but religious also.
Ответитьif ur not a motor head most of this song went out the exhaust, 4/11; 4 barrel. Hell most of u kids have never seen a Hot Rod Lincoln let alone one made with a Model A body and frame. I was not yet a teen when this tune came out but i was a motor head even then and understood every word. Built my first motorized go-cart at age 7. Dove my first Dirt track race for money the day I got my License 2 days after my 16th B-day. Now I am old and my health will not let me drive a car. I have to be happy with my tractor which doesn't go that fast and has a dead man switch in it which I put in. I mess taking a corner marked at 30 at 70.
ОтветитьAsleep at the wheel fan for a LONG time. But I land here and 3 minutes of dead air time=??? who supposedly knows what they're doing there?????
ОтветитьThank you ALL for keeping some old music alive!
ОтветитьIt's been decades since I 've heard that song. It still puts a smile on my face.
ОтветитьI think it’s either a mandola or mandocello but the strings are tuned in octaves instead of in unison.
ОтветитьThe Lady plays Beautifully! Thank you for sharing! ❤
ОтветитьI believe that was a twelve cylinder Lincoln.
ОтветитьI love this version of the song. Pretty cool
