What is nougat, and why is it in every candy bar?

Why do Americans call chocolate bars candy bars, like why

I always thought that Nougat is made with nuts, perhaps that's different in America. In Europe it's a blend of cacao, hazelnuts and sugar. Very sweet, smooth and melty.

I was also very disappointed for that reason, because I always thought, when do the nuts and the cacao come in. It's a great blend. Come on, at least mention that there are two types of nougats: White nougat and brown nougat.

Nougat in the UK (and probably most of Europe) is not that whipped, aerated stuff. It's a firm, chewy block, often coated with rice paper.
And it's often pronounced Noo-gar.

"Literally" 100 years. "Literally" check the weather. Are there metaphoric interpretations of these terms that need to be clarified?

Nougat is in Europe a mass from mixed nuts (almond, peanuts, or hazelnuts) with sugar/honey and cacao.

This makes me respect vegan candy bars(specifically the ones under the brand Go Max Go because they’re the only ones I’ve really had) a bit more. Obviously most of these products usually have milk because of the chocolate but I believe that’s a relatively easy fix. I never really noticed candy bars even had eggs, let alone how important they are to making nougat.

In Iran we call nougat "gaz" and it is really more like French nougat.

All nougat is made with egg whites (not eggs) and sugar syrup either with ir without honey. The texture is determined by the temperature of the sugar syrup. The higher the temperature, the firmer the product.

In South Africa we pronounce it "noo-gaah" or if we are being silly - "nugget".
