I've had so many lessons where I come out crying and I want to quit so bad. Don't give up, we all have bad days ❤❤❤
ОтветитьBad rides always suck, but remember its a bad ride not a bad rider <3
Ответитьdo you ever ride with a neckstrap? I think it's a really nice medium between holding a saddle for the transition and still having something to hold, but not messing your hand position around so much and having issues
That said, things like this happen! The other week I spent half my lesson arguing with my lesson horse just to get her to walk without stopping, but this week I jumped for the first time in 10 years!
Clara, grab mane!! When you want to sit the trot (even with bouncy horses/ponies), you grab a bit of mane while still holding your reins, lift your inside hand and kick with outside leg, and squeeze with inside leg! Then you’ll get your canter without bouncing around! ❤❤
ОтветитьHello! I ride a horse that used to have difficulty with the right lead as well but I fixed it with this tip! So when you ask for the canter give your right rein a little flick and while your doing that give a squeeze/ kick with your right leg. It may take some time but this fixed his issue for me!
ОтветитьDon’t put your self down so much! Part of being an equestrian is having those off days. Next time now you know how you can improve. Being alive will bring u mistakes but it’s not like you can’t fix them😊
ОтветитьDon’t put yourself down! You are an amazing rider! Every equestrian had off days, sometimes it just happens ❤ LOVE U GIRL ❤️
Edit: Also loveeee the new chaps (I think?)! They might be tall boots I can’t quite tell!
Really enjoy your videos…sorry you had a rough ride but remember often those rides teach us the most. I’m sure your next one will be great!
Would it be possible to adjust your GoPro angle so we can see more of what’s going on in front/around you instead of just seeing the horses neck and ground? I think it would be so nice to get a more complete view.
I’ve had so many lessons where my 🌶️ chestnut just didnt want to canter and I get all ur struggle ❤ you are an amazing rider and ur an inspiration don’t put your self down ❤
ОтветитьLooks like the sweet boy decided he was done for the day, and that was that. Happens.
ОтветитьThe thingis ur trainer is good but one time i heard her she wanted u to canter and u where about to go int9 a canter but she said back to trot which i dont get!!! Ur amazing tho everyond always has bad days
ОтветитьIts ok! It happens to all of us . Trust me it won't be ur last 😂 you still did a really good job
ОтветитьHarder horses to ride teach us the most valuable lessons.
Everyone has their off days.
It happens to us all, believe me you are not alone. Sometimes no matter what you do it just doesn’t go your way. But that’s the equestrian world. Just stay positive learn from it and try again.
ОтветитьSo there's a horse at my barn her name is Libby and she is my fav! But I stopped riding her for a while this summer and started riding a paint named Aurora. Auroras strides are shorter and faster than Libby's. So when I started riding Libby again my posting was so messed up!
ОтветитьWe all have those days somtimes! Don't pull yourself down over one lesson. There's plenty more lessons to come! No matter how long anyone has been riding there is always more to learn just stay confident!💗
ОтветитьWe alllllll have off days as equestrians, also you could be over thinking because your friend is there without knowing, when my grandma came to watch me i was a mess and ended up falling off and i ride one horse every lesson so maybe that could have been an issue❤
ОтветитьIt happens!! We all have bad rides, but that part of the learning experience! I won’t tell you it’ll get better, because it happens to all levels of riders, but you’re not alone! Hope your next ride is great. (I’m gonna put some info/tips below but feel free to not read if you don’t want to!!)
Hi! Some tips here:
1. One of the best things I did for my canter was to work on my sitting trot. Being able to sit the trot comfortably on all horses has really allowed me to get my transitions down.
2. This is kind of helpful information and a tip in one. To get the right lead, you want their nose pointed to the inside but not so much that their outside shoulder is bulging to the rail. When it’s bulging, it makes it physically hard for them to pick up the correct lead. To prevent this, slightly open the inside reign, and close the outside to their neck. This keeps their shoulder from going out but keeps their nose to the inside.
3. If you feel out of control, instead of staying that way and running around the arena, take a minute to breathe and organize yourself, then try again.
4. Close your inside leg and slide your outside leg back and squeeze/kick to ask, sometimes it helps me to slide my outside leg back even more dramatically to let them know what I’m asking for.
Hope these were of help :) have a great day!
ahh i love your trainer. Learning how to ride is one thing but if all you do is ride smooth horses, then you’re not gonna get better. Riding more bumper horses is sooooo good for you in my opinion. It’s really just a test of balance. People can have good balence on smooth horses but when you get on a not so smooth one then you have no balence. and that’s why it’s sooo good to ride bouncier horses!!! you are looking awsomeeeeee
ОтветитьOkay, so I wrote this big timestamp thingy and it just deleted itself, so I'm just gonna sum it up 😭
I totally know what it feels like during these rides and it's definitely tough. A lot of times I find myself losing motivation and not wanting to ride anymore. I'm just glad you realized your mistakes and better yet, caught them on video. You can always look back and reflect in the future! I wish you luck with your next ride :)
We all have those days, I for sure have, especially on my mare, as my boyfriend says "I don't like the word "perfect" because nobody is perfect, you just get better, closer to perfect." you're an amazing rider, Clara! dont bring yourself down, we all have these days <3
ОтветитьI still think you’re a really great rider! 🫶 I usually feel like I’m the worst rider when my dad watches me because I don’t want to disappoint him since he pays a lot of money for me to do this sport, and I kind of get into my head a little and I bring myself down a lot. That’s just something I need to work on but don’t let yourself down we all have bad days.
Edit~ congratulations on 4k Clara! You deserve it😊
Claraaa!! Hun it happens, everyone has bad days!! Don’t take nothing for granted with riding because you are a beautiful rider and you are an amazing person, it’s okay to feel bad and it’s okay to have a little bit of impatience and it’s totally okay to make mistakes! keep your head high girl! And always feel free to tell your coach if you are uncomfortable or if you don’t feel very safe on a horse because your coach is there to make you the best rider you can be! Always be positive and stay safe! Love ya ❤
ОтветитьDear Clara! Thank you for uploading this video.. I really really felt for you! I started to learn how to pick up the Canter 6 mounth ago, and I had so many lessons like this! Every horses have different movement and personality so It's so difficult to Canter with them, exspecially for the first time! You said perfectly... These kind of riding lessons are phisically, mentally and emotionly challanging!! Last time I fell off as well! I always say, I will come back stronger!! :) You are Great!!
ОтветитьAt an old barn i only rode on the spicy/lazy horses. Thats one reason why i changed barns. The horses DID NOT want to canter let alone on the right lead😭and it was so hard to sit their canter but after some time i got used to it. Honestly a tip of mine is to hold on to the mane, and DEFFINETLY shorten the reins a lot and sit back hard so they canter on. (Now at the different barn) my canter and trot seat is honestly amazing! You will get used to it❤I wish the best of luck on Fishy.⭐️💋💞
ОтветитьFisher will teach you the most I swear :) might be hard work, but he'll get you riding the canter transition properly, rather than just having a "push button pony" that compensates for the rider mistakes. He won't get the right lead unless he's asked correctly, which is good! It forces us as riders to notice the gaps in our training and what we need to work on. Might not feel like a good lesson but its probably one that you've taken the most out of in a while! Good work 🤗
ОтветитьThe horses that are the toughest will teach you the most! I’ve learned a lot on a horse named Cali! She is the laziest (but cutest) lil mare ever! I now ride a mare that just perfect (but still has flaws) im telling you ALL HORSES teaches you something memorable! I fell off blacky (the horse i ride now) last week and was a bit wonky yesterday when i had my lesson. It was a bad lesson and bad day 😔 Fisher will teach you the most! I can tell from the start 😉 Good luck for next week
Edit: i also didn’t jump sadly 😢
what a coincidence! i had a horrible ride yesterday, too. i know how it feels. all you can do is learn from the bad lessons in order to have good ones! your next lesson will be a fresh start so make the best out of it
ОтветитьOmg! I have that same problem with a chestnut gelding that look EXACTLY like fisher!
ОтветитьIt's ok, we all have a bad ride every now and then!!
Just a thought. Maybe if you're having trouble with your rein length, try a neck strap to help keep your hands even and down! Also, as someone told me once, try and keep "baby bird" contact with the reins, meaning that they're not tight but no where near loose.
And one more tip is if he's a bit uneven, shift your weight ever so slightly to the outside, that way he hopefully knows "ok, I shouldn't be leaning in this much" and might straighten up that little bit better!
Sorry if I sound like an internet trainer, I'm not and I don't mean to sound like one if I did!
Hope these tips helped and love your channel!!
There are these things called rein markers! They help with keeping your hands in one place while riding!
ОтветитьIf it helps my trainers tell me to roll my shoulders back and sit back to help with the balance
ОтветитьThe patience your instructor has😇
You did great tho!!! I won’t give u any tips bc I know it’s annoying! So keep up the practice!❤
It's hard being a lesson horse and they can get bored and sour!!
ОтветитьOh, i really love horse, and i really love your video!❤
ОтветитьAy my barn there are super energetic horses which are usually the really big ones at my barn such as 16-18h and the smaller ones around 14-15h are kinda lazy so u never know how your lesson is gonna go! I hope you have a better lesson next week!❤
ОтветитьYou know, I have had soooo many horses be like this! Don’t you dare feel ashamed! Like maybe it’s just the horses I ride but like we all have bad days and you sat it so well like there is three people at least I know who would be on the ground after about 5 minutes of this so I am soooo impressed ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤(I am a bit late) also you make me feel much more happy about myself in riding because some channels only show the good or kind of bad stuff!❤ (your amazing!)
ОтветитьOne thing you should never do to try and keep the horse from bulging out of the R or L shoulder, is to shorten that rein to try to keep that shoulder straight. You always want to keep your hands and arms even on the reins and forward in from of you in “the work area”. Holding the reins unevenly or having uneven arms or a twisted torso can make the horse crooked and unbalanced. This also just causes more interference with the horse and can wreak havoc on your position and ability to give aids correctly. If you are ever not sure what to do when something happens like a budging shoulder or you don’t know what aid you should give or even don’t know the action of your body to give the aid or aids, just ask your instructor. The best thing you can do is educate yourself and ask as many questions as you can.
ОтветитьI would loved to have you as a student. I can see how much you want to learn. One thing I can see is that you are not using or engaging your core correctly and you have the tendency to lean forward at the hip angle ( where your upper thigh and pelvis meet, right where your bathing suit or underwear line would be). This leaning forward closes your hip angle and then you are arching your lower back, tilting the top of your pelvis forward/dropping your pubic bone and causing you to ride on the front of your groin rather than have an upright neutral pelvis sitting evenly on your seat bones. It’s so important to have a neutral pelvis and then and neutral spine aligned above the neutral pelvis. If you don’t fix your seat and think of bringing your pelvis more upright, you will continually struggle against your own position and balance. A neutral pelvis and spine allow the rider to absorb the motion and energy the horse’s body makes in all the gates and jumping. Most instructors don’t know very much or anything at all about rider biomechanics and just teach very basic stuff without going into too much detail. A lot of us go our entire riding lifetime without really learning how to properly engage our core for riding and really use all the different areas of our bodies to give properly effective and efficient aids. We use our body much differently when else ride compared to just doing everyday human activities. I have some goood rider biomechanics lessons
ОтветитьHere is one of the better rider biomechanics lessons to watch and try stuff out on a larger yoga ball so your legs are more in a natural riding position with your that 45 degrees or in a saddle on a saddle stand so you can use stirrups too. For your hands and what you want to achieve and look for when holding the reins and having what’s called a “sympathetic contact” ( this means that the welfare and comfort of the horse comes first and think of contact/your hands on the reins means that as soon as you pick up the reins, your hands now belong to the horse because we should move our arms with the movement of the horse’s head and neck in the walk and canter and in rising trot, hands stay in the same place in the air in front of the saddle and as we rise up, our elbows should open and the close back to starting position as we sit. In sitting trot our body bounces with the horse and our elbows need to also slightly open and close with the amount the horse needs us to use our core, pelvis and lower back in order to match the movement the horse’s back/body makes in the trot. The sympathetic contact should be FIRM (fingers closed around the reins so finger tips are touching heel/lower part of your palms with 1-2 pounds of feel/ weight and thumbs bend at the fist knuckles just past the thumb nail so it is bent like the roof of a house with more of the front 3/4 of your thumb print pressing down on the rein coming up and out of your fist. EVEN (both hands on the reins at an even length and they should be an even distance from each other 3,4,5” apart in front of the saddle ). SYMMETRICAL (both hands should be a mirror image of each other One hand should not be higher/lower than the other or one hand should not be more forward or further back than the other. if someone is looking from the side, they should not see the hand furthest away from them). STRAIGHT (there should always be a straight line going from your elbows through your forearms, wrists, and hands down the reins to the bit/corners of the horses’s mouth.
ELASTIC (soft supple shoulder and elbow joints to actively follow and go with the movement of your horse’s head and neck in the walk and canter and as you rise and go back down in the saddle in the rising/ sitting trot.
Here is the link to the rider biomechanics lesson. This is by one of the top biomechanics instructors in the USA. HIS VIDEOS ARE AMAZING. I HAVE SO MUCH MORE INFO/ links if you want them. I have really good videos on how to correctly engage your core for riding and for riding half halts as well as pelvis and sitting trot videos.
It all happens to us! Don’t forget we are with you every step of the way , even if it’s a not so good one! Also a little tip if a horse you are leading won’t walk , first of you can cluck ( like you did! ) but while you are clucking if they won’t move try to began walking on your own . Nearly lien forget about them and then they would start walking ( I do this with the most stubborn horses and it works!)❤
ОтветитьI have those same breeches 😂😂😂 (also the stirrup thing is so real)
Ответитьi had a horrible lesson so i really relate it wasnt much of me riding it was the horse riding me and i tried to jump and i just kept falling of to the point i could feel my body i was sooo sore but kept going and we all have bad days
love you clare,
😘
I have a question for you: How do you get the go pro the right angle. Mine is either always pointing at my hands or in the sky.
ОтветитьYou should were gloves
