I am an Australian living in Iran. I've been on both sides of the fence so to speak. Due to Iran's segregation of the sexes, men tend to get over excited when they see a female in western clothing. I have dressed fully covered here with scarf and a long fitting dress, and have experienced a lot of men staring, commenting, and even following me. So I decided to wear chador a long black material that covers hair and body. Now when I go out alone, men do not comment, or stare too much or follow me in their cars. In this country, as it is now, women need to cover, or else they will be harassed sexually, or labelled a loose woman . I choose to be respected, left alone, and feel safe when outside my home. Also, women who don't cover enough are being targeted in acid attacks here. I like my face. Thanks.

Hejab is not an issue that may decided by a State. Hijab is an issue that decide by the Creator. Therefore it is a law which the Muslims must obey the law of Allah. However, if you are not a Muslim none has right to force you to do so...

Hejab in the old days, by that I mean Medieval days, was acceptable, because of dusty unmade roads, fit for only camel and bullock carts. The social fabric after the Arab conquest of Iran was at its lowest, and women were made to dress like the Arabs, because the Iranians converted to Islam from Zoroastrianism, so they had to follow these orthodox ways of the Arabs, and rightly so, because if you join a club, then you have to bide by the rules.
It was not Khomeini's fault, because he was your spiritual leader and that was the only way he was taught how women should be treated..
In 1979 the Iranians welcomed him after throwing the late Shah out, who was the only enlightened leader of the nation, and the people were happy.
Now the time has come to reverse the changes, and it is upto the youth to start complaining
about the backward Arabo/Iranian customs and revert back to the fashion able era of the Pahlavi dynasty.

There is no covering of women from head to toe in the Arabic Quran but in those satanic resalah hadith sunna and sharia law. Show me one verse in the Quran talking about covering women. These people are not allowed to READ the Arabic Quran. That is why so called Muslims in the world are cursed. (Allah is the One who evicted those who disbelieved (Refugees) among the people of the scripture (Quran) from their homes in a mass exodus. You never thought that they would leave, and they thought that their preparations would protect them from Allah. But then Allah came to them whence they never expected, and threw terror into their hearts. Thus, they abandoned their homes on their own volition, in addition to pressure from the believers. You should learn from this, O you who possess vision. This is because they opposed Allah and His messenger. For those who oppose Allah and His messenger, Allah is most strict in enforcing retribution) (Quran 59:2-4). Allah gave so called Muslims 40 years respite to check those 1500 pages of scientific reports based on mathematics but they rejected them and on top of that they even killed the messenger of Allah. Allah is the Best Avenger. The worst is yet to come.

I have said it many times , and it will be said many times more " Islam is a religion of Peace". Iran was a society who weren't used to wearing hijab or were ever attached to Islamic way of life and that's why after the revolution these women were complaining about their freedom and rights. Yes they had the right to but plz it didn't have anyhting to do with Islam because it's the politics who forced these people to wear hijab and stick to the islamic way of life. Islam it's self doesn' force but it recccommends e.g. to wear hijab to conceal your body and thus, avoid the opposite gender to seeing your body. Ayotullah Khomeini broguht up this idea of Islam because he knew Islam is a religon of peace but what he ddin't know were the implication of it upon iranian society and not everyone will be accepting of it which obviously turned out fairly troubling to the society. I currently live in Australia and i wear full hijab and the politics aren't there to force me to take it off because its my choice and Islam has not forced me or oppressed me to wear it or practise Islam . So really ask this question again to yourself is it Islam that is forcing you or the people around you . And there is more where that came from coz i can say a lot more but yet it won't be useful to pple
