This video is mostly narrated still shots of my process for fabricating a silver match safe. 100-150 years ago matches were precious commodities, not to mention a bit dangerous. They could be struck anywhere and could catch fire readily. They were also quite sensitive to moisture. So elaborate boxes as artistic adornment were made to carry a small supply of matches.
These are now curiosities and collectors items, but the artistic canvas presented by wee boxes is irresistible to folks like me.So follow along as I assemble a sterling silver match safe.
