People need to calm down over the appointment, takeover in place, we’re in a good place, need to turn the drama down a notch and support the guy. We need a guy with good contacts in the lower leagues down south, we need an Aribo, Bassey, Martin might be the guy, Naismith speaks highly of him, that’s good enough for me.

Hear this fellow bears. I sorely didn't want Martin, as vehemently as anyone here. That said I will back whoever has signed, it is the one most didn't want. However, something has convinced the new owners he was the best choice. So now he is manager I will put on my big boy pants and give him a try.

They and Martin will be well aware of the general social media response. He has shown guts to join and take it on. He will know as an ex player that he won't get time from the fans and he will need to hit the ground running. No one liked him as a player here, so there is a huge pressure out the gate.

Add to this the expectation and intitial excitment of having new owners that in some quarters has turned very toxic already, and an overall mass feeling of disappointment in Martin arriving, he has some balls to still take the job.

So many managers have come with hype and failed for long enough. I am trying to self soothe a bit here, but my hope is he backs himself and is hellbent on winning the fans over. If he is absolute in his dedication maybe the one hardly a soul wanted could yet be the hero we need in the dugout.

So i will give it a chance. He won't be allowed many mistakes and he must win and challenge from the off. Lets see how it goes. Best of luck Russell Martin, you will need it. Never has a manager started with this level of pressure.

I hope to be won over. We are stuck with him for now. We might as well make the best of it.

Is it a bad appointment or the level of manager Rangers can attract at the moment also I doubt he will be able to attract the players that Ancelotti might have been able to attract but he has more experience than Beal and there were those that were happy with Beal when he came in and those that were not happy with Gerrard when he came in and lets face it the Championship is a far superior league than the SPL ever will be and those with the money that chose him have to back him with better quality players than we currently have and he is hardly an appointment that is going to make the likes of Raskin to want to hang around but he will certainly be aware of the disappointment many feel and with Ferguson telling the world these players wont listen to instructions and yet he still played them, well, Martin might weed them all out because he wont get the same goodwill as the past managers will have been given which should force him to make decision the others wouldn't and maybe that's been the issue all along.

Everton fan I have to say when you appointed Kevin Thelwell as DOF I feared the worst, the appointment of Russell Martin confirms it he is a clueless manager who wants to play all tippy tappy nonsense at the expense of winning games. I hope I am proved wrong and you win the league next season but i will be surprised if he sees the season out

We as rangers fans need to get behind the manager and hope he can do the job well and get the results we need from the team I thought we were not going for any previous player if we were going for a previous player we should have stuck with Ferguson at least he got a win at parkhead fairly quick and it’s pretty hard to get a win there
