Ordered this because my wife wanted a digital calendar on the fridge but there was no way we were paying for something like Skylight. Plus I didn't want to worry about running power to something on the fridge.
It did take a couple of months to arrive, but we were in no hurry and I know this video caused a surge in ordering (good for them).
I hadn't even told my wife I ordered it. She was giddy when I opened the box and with zero help from me had it fully setup showing the weather and our family calendar in less than 15 minutes.
It won't be for everyone, but it's perfect for us.
I impulsively bought a 25" e-ink monitor that's been doing not a lot, so I might just BYOD and have a massive TRMNL 😅
ОтветитьIn China, such a product is worth up to $20
ОтветитьTangental to the main point of the video . . . but how do you get a Shortcut to run every time you update a specific note?
ОтветитьIf you do know how to code and tinker you are better off ordering a color display/pi zero and building it yourself. Heck with things like chatgpt you don't even have to be all that much of an expert.
Ответитьvery interesting! i'll def check it out
ОтветитьAnd still no eink laptop run Linux
ОтветитьI preordered mine a few days after watching this review in early February. Initially, I was given a March delivery date, but I haven’t heard from the company since a February 21 email titled ‘What’s New at TRMNL’. That email mentioned a monthly newsletter, but aside from that and the ‘Great Choice’ email I received on the day of purchase, I haven’t gotten any updates. The website now says, Pre-order now for May delivery. Just checking—has anyone actually received theirs since watching this review?
ОтветитьToo expensive.
Ответить🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Ответитьtake my money...
ОтветитьPecil op on ink a video
ОтветитьJust ordered using your link. Been waiting for something like this forever! Thank you
ОтветитьDid anyone catch that Notes Shortcut Plugin that can put some training wheels on it for mere mortals like me? I have never used Shortcuts before and my options on iPhone or iPad don't look quite the same (i.e. its seems like I have to use Dictionary to set the text as a key, and then use Set to set the text to content in values as two separate actions instead of one like in the video). I have tried slowing down this video and following as close as I can, but I'm not sure what's happening.
Ответить$135 and sold out, ROFL.
ОтветитьNot sponsored? You literally have a personalized discount code that you earn money from. They pay you.
ОтветитьI love e-Ink devices.
ОтветитьAny idea what they plan on doing about the ESP32 chip?
ОтветитьThis is so cool.
ОтветитьSad that it costs a kidney to buy this in Brazil
ОтветитьCool.
Point blank, I won't buy any device that requires an app for any part of it's functionality and I absolutely will not 'rent' software from anyone. It's mine forever to do with as I wish, or I want no part of it at all. Hear me Adobe? But this is the good way of doing such things:
You actually own what you bought, crazy eh? And... you can use / pay for the company's services or not as you see fit - very well done!
They really should have made the size way bigger than your average 3D printer can print. This way you can get a luxurious big screen from them (readable from further away) or a puny little crap display if you print it yourself.
ОтветитьThis is basically a hardware widget lmao, not on your phone screen, but offline and right in front of you. And we love it!
Funny how much we are aching to go back to simplicity from the overcrowded 6inch displays.
What an awesome device that is totally pointless.
ОтветитьMine should be arriving today! It feels like I ordered it ages ago!
ОтветитьI too was influenced by Marco. Looking forward to getting mine (in June 😅)
ОтветитьI bought this on the recommendation from your channel. It shipped out on the 11th of February. It is now the 4th of March and USPS tracking shows the last activity on the 16th of February.
After multiple support requests through email and on X, all I have been told is to continue to wait. I contacted USPS and was told it was more than likely lost.
With the poor support I have received from TRMNL, maybe mentioning my issue here will help as it will get more public attention to their support, or lack thereof.
great idea but still too small
Ответитьis it a commodity easily replaced battery
ОтветитьReminds me of a stripped down black and white version of Dakboard. And thats a good thing.
ОтветитьBut can it run crysis?
ОтветитьDamn i would love to buy this to display my glucose number around the house. Anyone know how we can utilize the API and pull data from LibreLInk? 😅
Ответитьtake my money
ОтветитьHow long would the battery last if the display is updated for a clock every minute? Every second?
Ответитьif only it was powerful enough to be a homeassistant display :(
Ответить$130 in my country is wild. Can buy a kindle paperwhite for that
ОтветитьThere a matter plugin, i want to be smart and suport all home ecosistems
Ответитьdude, allot of words.. 3 min video extended to 14 .. try this prompt "concise bullet point no prose" lol ... content good length not as good
ОтветитьI have no idea what can I use it for, but I want one
ОтветитьSad they didn't frame it with solar cells to gradually replenish the battery with ambient light. That would have been more interesting.
ОтветитьWas hoping this was a new company making E ink screens. Been looking for one thats based in the US.
ОтветитьHey we are Open Source for the algorithm thanks for the hits, oh you thought we were open source LOL nooob.
ОтветитьHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERNE
Ответить😲🔥
ОтветитьThe TRMNL team sounds INCREDIBLY BASED as far as companies go and I really hope their philosophy doesn't change. I hope these guys continue to be creative and grow. companies should be more creative and find other avenues to make profit. while still be affordable for the majority of people.
ОтветитьIt would be great to mount the E-Ink Screen as an USB file system. That would be the simplest interface.
ОтветитьCool product, cool business model, love the OpenSouce approach.
But I can't think of any really useful applications of this in my home, aside from displaying the calendar or the weather.
You guys have any out of the box ideas?
Plans to support color epaper versions?
Ответить
