MIDWAY movie best scene

Fantastic movie.

One reason this movie gets crapped on is the dialogue. I think a lot of americans are used to clunky hoorah pro american machismo types of lines, but for the rest of the world its seen as very odd and clunky dialogue, it just really really stands out and feels unnatural.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but it really bugs me how in their attack on the island of Roi, the Japanese fleet is anchored near a bunch of cliffsides. Roi (now Roi-Namur after the two islands of Roi and Namur were combined in 1944) is a part of Kwajalein Atoll. The main characteristic of coral atolls like this? They're completely flat. Not a mountain or cliffside in sight.

Its sad that the navy had to do life firetests inside a warzone because the FUCKING Bureau of Ordnance COUNT BE ASKED TO TEST THE SHIT THEY GAVE OUT PROPERLY BEFORE!

Bull crap movie

It's my understanding this movie isn't terribly popular. Historically it is reasonably accurate and represents both side fairly well. However it has been Hollywoodized fairly heavily with catchy dialog. The officers dress uniforms look like they were slept in. Maybe they were trying to depict clothing materials as they existed in the early 40's. Accuracy of military protocol was lacking. In the Navy you don't salute indoors or in the interior of a ship. You remove your cover indoors. I'm not a fan of CGI but understand it is the now thing. Still, every time I see it applied at this level I can't help but think I'm in a video game. The 1970's version was much better. Tora Tora Tora is the ultimate naval war movie. Very historically accurate, great special effects, great shipbuilding, and no CGI. I watch it every December.

Woody as Chester Nimitz is the worst casting call in history.

Ed Skrein did a respectable job as Dick Best however his dialect is terrible. British actors often overdo it on the American accents and they come off sounding like a bad impression of the Dead End Kids.

Why do I feel like that a lot of people haven't noticed the almost complete lack of American fighter planes in this movie?

All we see are Bombers of various types. We should be seeing F4F Wildcats and maybe a few Brewster Buffalos.

I still don't know how the airplane missed the carrier. Bruno's balls must have created its own gravity field and should have pulled the plane right into it.

I didn't like this movie. I know many people do and I am not here to flame on them but I didn't buy most of the casting. My main impression is the director shot it like a video game. It also had rather standard hero tropes that are old and tired. It wasn't as historically accurate as its fans seem to want it to be. Thought the music was unexceptional. I'm already not a fan of the director and I think he was 'miscast' as well for this pic.

Such a great movie and one of the more accurate war ones made. No need to add a fictional love story or some made up characters to add conflict or drama. All of these guys were heroes.

Great movie. I have watched it multiple times. I overlook most irregularities because I do like the story
This scene always bugged me a bit though. They show the carrier in view of the islands. They would never get that close. They would of stayed at least 100 miles away
Also they spent too much time with the other stories which are important yes but not enough on the actual midway battle.
I would of liked to see the attacks on the Yorktown

Sorry but woody in this role is totally unbelievable. A 4 star general is going to be at least 60 years old or more, but his makeup can’t hide his youth…
