What great information.
We live up hill about 2 hours away in Calaveras county.
We have beautiful garter snakes here but not as colorful.
My first time learning about this beautiful species.
Thank you for all your work protecting & studying them.
As well as the information you share.

I grew up on the high side of Highway 1 on the SSF side. There was a field behind my house where you could find garter snakes all the time. There were rabbits and frogs and probably stuff we didn't even know about. It was the first time I'd ever seen a fossil in real life too!

Its a shame that these snakes cannot be brought over from Europe and be kept by hobbyists.
