I think Rikichi is the guy that actually stood up to As Nodt when the rest of the squad members ran away. He gave a speech about how is soul reaper's job to stand up the the enemy, and as he's about to be attacked, Renji rescues him and commends him for his bravery. This was in cour one, an I wrong?

Cour 3. This is only just past the halfway point? Oh, holy shihakasho. We are eating so well.
Edit: even tho I read this whole arc, twice I think, that was like 138 years ago. I don't remember shit. Watching this is like I get to experience it all again for the first time, and I LOVE IT!!!

Just to note — still frames in animation and anime is usually done when you are saving budget. So the fact this episode had a lot and both episodes been calm. It makes it likely they saved budget for the back end episodes so they hopefully gonna be absolute top notch

Really love these videos, I get to see just how much was changed from the manga in the anime while getting some fun commentary

Watching these reviews is almost as good as watching the real episode ^^

I think they're trying to keep the Soul King ultimately neutral and nebulous. The idea of a supreme deity is more mystifying when you have no idea what their motives are. And while you can draw conclusions, those hypotheses being simple conjecture as opposed to objective fact means there's always room for new speculation. I don't think we'll ever know for certain what the Soul King was thinking.

If the healing abilities of shinigamis and Orihime can heal people with large gaping holes in their bodies, why can’t they heal Ukitake?

I gotta disagree with you on Kyoraku knowing about Mayuri's plan. Since the Quincies last left, Kyoraku became captain commander. I would assume that one of his first priorities would be to ensure that they had a way to reach the soul palace if needed. Thus, he would have talked to Mayuri on day 1 after the promotion, if no for the fact he'd have heard about the technology in the centuries since Mayuri/Kisuke established it.

Is Hanataro alive? Was he in TYBW?

Honestly in this particular episode, the manga was better in terms of truth to character, converting power and punchline. Not sure why the changes occur, but I was personally looking forward to it. The major issue to me is the monotonic Aizen persona as it feels weird and slightly underwhelming

While the manga the fights we do get are incredible I hope we get more out of other characters such as the Vizards and lesser Shinigami which the anime seems to be setting up here

I wonder if Ukitake still being barely alive means Mimihagi will play a part in the Final fight with Yhwach, after all since we know the Almighty cannot predict Mimihagi it could come back in a big way.

I remember you saying that it was reported that ukitake would have a bigger role and the flashback was cool but I don’t think that what “bigger” mean when cutting so much out. So maybe let say 2 things might happen, 1 ukitake is struggling to maintain the mimihage and show a little struggle, I don’t know what this could means but that’s one option. The second is that instead of mayuri kyoraku will end ukitake himself in a act of mercy and use his immense reishi (because even tho he always sick he does rival the old folks) and finish the spirits gate

Hey @MrTommo2304! Could you explain the connection between black/dark and power in bleach? It is a reccuring theme and not just dark evil stuff like other franchises.
