I take my time following the OB and Omanhene on their Friday community engagement program, and I always ask myself a question; so do they not see that there is a missing link in the activity of their program?
On the legislative side, you always call the sitting member of parliament and the opposition member to debate each other,
But on the executive side, you only call the current DCE or MCE without debating anybody.
Based on that missing link, you throw all the development questions to the members of parliament (The legislatures) to answer, and without a single question involving laws of the land.
The main duty the constitution has given to them is to enact or make new laws or change the existing laws.
To make our multi-party democratic system complete, we need to have a current sitting executive member and a past executive member (The opposition member) in place at all times, at the local government level;
To compete with each other on developments, About what you have done, what you are doing, and what you will do going forward.
I am not blaming OB and Omanhene for this issue but I am just pointing out the missing link in our constitution.
And I am advocating for the election of MMDCEs on a partisan basis.
Why partisan basis, because that will help us eliminate the “winner takes all” syndrome.
And also bring more development, because Competition is the “key” for a faster improvement, Again it would help wake up the “sleeping giant” officials from only waiting for common funds before they can faction a little.
Without much ado, I said the election of MMDCEs on a partisan basis as soon as possible.
