You have excellent references, between The Twilight Zone and the allegory of the cave. You have everything you need to understand the depth of the saga and not stop at the first movie. Those who have only seen the first movie have not seen what The Matrix is really about.

The fighting scenes were done by them. They went through months of training to look as authentic as possible.

At the end of the day there is not much fiction in this movie.

The only change I would make in the Matrix films is for the machines to use humans for their mental circuitry, not as batteries. Because they could have used any living organism as a battery, humans are not particularly efficient at producing energy. What humans are really good at is having awesome brains

I saw this in the theater in 1999 without knowing anything about it and Trinitys first move had me on my feet. Could the use of reflection also correlate to the looking glass in Alice in Wonderland. That and the rabbit hole are portals or doors to pass through.

guys real story is here: they were still in the matrix. They think they are in real world. But all was also part of matrix. Thats why when Neo was blind (in matrix 3), he still see everything in yellow. He realized it but didn't say anything to anyone. Because he know human nature, they will not stop. As Mr Reagan said ignorance is bliss. Nobody knows depth of matrix. They only woke up to new matrix world. Btw, Neo is also a program like oracle or creator.
