Super excited after not enjoying the first raid of the xpac.
ОтветитьThe boss that’s goated to me because of the Elden Ring effect is Zskarn. I tanked that tier and that boss fucking SLAPPED until it was nerfed, and we killed it the week before it got nerfed. The dopamine from killing that was BIG!
ОтветитьIt will only be the. Est raid if they can find an exploit. That fucking suck
ОтветитьToo many mechanics. I stopped watching the Ready Check Pull at the 4th boss because I was picturing myself in there being extremely frustrated at 24 other people. Anxiety...
I dread going in there with my guild's raid team. So much so that I might not even raid with them this tier and go find another raid team or just skip raid until I get giga m+ geared and be able to bruteforce it. Only HC raiding btw.
I dont even want to think another 100 plus pulls on a boss that has the Queen jump mechanic multiple times in the same fight that most people still fail.
Anyhow. I'm away for the first week of the raid being out so will need to catch up on gear first and then make a decision.
“9 woman can’t make a baby in one month “😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьWatching my main spec sub rogue just get left in the dust consistently during every dev cycle leads me to believe they really do need more people working on the game.
ОтветитьTrue, nathria was goated in theme, and denathrius just hmmmm chefs kiss
Ответитьthis is a man who said zskarn could be one of the best bosses of all time, s tier, before the abberus released.
Ответитьtypical WoW streamer, the level of delusional is so high
ОтветитьEvery software engineer knows about the mythical man month, its counterintuitive but definitely true
ОтветитьBlizz been playing catch up since they couldnt finish vanilla on time for release and spent the first year just trrying to do server maintrnance so people could actually log in
ОтветитьWhether it's politics or video games at the end of the day all opinions are Vibes based. Doesn't matter what the content is. The Vibes matter most.
ОтветитьA comment regarding hiring and team structures. It's pretty much common sense, but every developer you add to a team brings less value, and there's multiple reasons for that:
- The mesh effect: the larger the team, the smaller your impact, the more you relax cause the less noticeable it is you're not giving 120%
- Lines of comunication: it's not feasible to maintain a completely flat structure in a game team, so: the more people in the team, the more decision-making ladders there need to be -> this usually means your best people are put as managers, doing less of what they are actually good at and more managing people who aren't necessarily as good / fast.
- More dependencies -> slower development: Wow's code base is a titan. It would be hard to maneuver even if just one person had edit rights. Now imagine 500 people constantly changing stuff. You'll naturally grow reluctant to doing changes, cause that may screw someone real time, which makes any development faster.
A mentor once told me, if you want to double your scope, you need to multiply your headcount per 5. So the impact growing WoW's team by 20% would be barely noticeable unless it's in some isolated section like alternative
game modes
Yup, mobile apps dev here(more utility apps/store apps not games) but for sure getting more people onto a project rarely yields more value. Between onboarding them and dividing the workload you end up with diminishing returns and more often then not you end up stepping on each others toes. Think of it like this if you were trying to attach something to your car it doesn't matter if the part needs 6 bolts to hold it in place because you can only put in one bolt at a time because of the access to where that part mounts.
ОтветитьIf it’s nathria level I’m in
ОтветитьI mean, they could just make a Raid A and Raid B team so each team has more time for their raid tier (maybe this is even the case to some extent already).
Obviously it's not that simple though since raids are always based around entire content patches and this might dampen flexibility.
It will take Blizzard atleast 1 full expansion to get rid of bosses that require multiple addons/weakauras so hold your copium lol
ОтветитьSurely Brooks' Law would apply for the current tier/project, making it worse due to training and getting everyone involved as said... but every project after would be improved due to everyone being ready. It makes zero sense for it to" always apply because they're always behind" when it would make them catch up faster in every following project?
ОтветитьWait wait wait, Max, are you telling us that if the atmosphere in a game is good people will want to play it to experience that atmosphere??? How about we leave the game design philosophy to the experts, alright?
ОтветитьWould a multi-wing raid with multiple "end bosses" be interesting? I feel like it's unlikely 1 guild can be first at both kills, but it'd be hype af if they were. Like old Stratholme where there is a live side & undead side. Maybe they drop different variants of tier, and the penultimate and end bosses on both sides are insane. Race to world first completion would be kinda sick.
It sounds cool, but maybe in practice it wouldn't work, I'm curious what you think.
