Saddest song I have ever heard
ОтветитьWhat a superb documentary!
"...But now the belts are empty,
came a sadness with the dawn.
And the body-press is idle,
and the valley's blinds are drawn.
Disaster struck this morning
when a fitter's mate named Ron
Cracked the mould of solid gold,
that once made Barry John..."
The Outside Half Factory - Max Boyce
my mate in New Zealand said he was the best player he has ever seen,
ОтветитьI saw him play on that lions tour...
I also saw Mark Ella play, and be was pretty good too...
Brilliant documentary, brilliant player, a legend of the game.
ОтветитьMy first rugby hero . From an Irish fan.
ОтветитьBorn in 1967, I was named after the great player., my middle name is John.
ОтветитьBarry John and Gareth Edwards
The pair will never be surpassed
Watching this RWC there is no comparrison
This reminds me of Max Boyce & his version of the deck of cards.
ОтветитьBarry John will never be forgotten!! How many people can say that?
What a player. One of the greatest of all time.🙏❤️.x
a Stunningly Beautiful programme
ОтветитьAbsolutely brilliant really enjoyed this. One of Wales greatest. Well done to Barry John. And the rest of the Welsh rugby team. They have given us some wonderful memories.
ОтветитьAwesome welsh accent ,can listen to them all day
ОтветитьNice music choice , good player who’d rather drink than anything else
ОтветитьI remember the second test at Lancaster Park in Christchurch 1971 I was eleven years old it was the only test the All Blacks won lost the series 2 to 1 best rugby team I can remember
ОтветитьI don't think I've ever seen a player that makes it look so easy. He looks like he is about a minute ahead of everyone else on the field. A remarkable player.
ОтветитьWhat a dreadfully said program. Ever present in the display of those dazzling skills is the sad juxtaposition of a sad old man living alone in elderly accommodation, riding a bus anonymously, drinking himself to death. Why wasn’t he looked after. I young today he would be a millionaire. Yea he is the King. Nobody before or since comes close.
ОтветитьBarry John or Phil Bennett? Tough decision
ОтветитьI didn't like the game. I was 9 or 10, the school forced us to play. I couldn't stand the freezing cold days and frozen pitches in January and February. I occasionally broke down on the pitch, my feet in unbearable pain. If I was lucky I was sent to the old wooden pavilion where they kept the high jump mattresses. But, I enjoyed the game of hare and hounds on the tarmac'ed school playground, a version of British bulldogs. It was more tig, no tackling. Half the school would play. More often than not I was one of the last to be caught. This gave away a certain talent. On the pitch they would pass the ball to me and I would score. Annoyingly it got me picked to play in the school team - more rugby! No choice.Sigh.
At secondary school i 'd learned my lesson, play rubbish, just enough! After a few years of playing "under the radar," puberty kicked in and my fear of the cold diminished. Now well into my teens and my anti rugby reservations subsiding I "suddenly improved." And was in the school team, at Fly half. Forgot to mention I could kick. Back at the primary school I'd seen a black and white poster, stuck on the wall of the classroom block, how to take a place kick. Maybe six or 9 frames showing Barry John, each frame he explained his method. (At the moment he made contact with the ball he would swing his left arm, to the right, across his chest.) Memorised the pictures and took them to practice. My first kick went through the posts, from about 15 yards and right in front of the posts mind. Still I got the ball airborne! My final year at secondary school I played for the 1st XV at Fly half. I have the team photo to prove it. Thank you, Barry.
Wales should have done more to look after Barry, surpassed by no one admired by everyone. Thanks for the memories Barry, you was definitely a one off 🏴
ОтветитьI am an Englishman. BJ was and is a legend.
ОтветитьBarry John. Y rhif 10 gorau a welais i erioed.💯
ОтветитьFans should realise that fame has a price & it can destroy people. Even now the selfie brigade actually assault a celebrity by sidling up to the said person & invades their space that we have walking or standing. They say not a word & celebs need to not facilitate this & ignore them. Asking for a autograph is different & you engage with the person if they want too & many don't like Paul McCartney & they can choose yes or no. Let's STAMP out Selfies!
ОтветитьA fine man. He will always be The King!
Ответитьa sorcerer a magican a trickster a purve

In advance they would edit the programme like this.
Greatest of all time ..absolutely…such a wonderful man too ..
ОтветитьThe one and only Barry John - the king
ОтветитьEdwards to Barry John, it's almost Biblical. Many thanks for an excellent clip.
ОтветитьBarry John, the George Best who lived.
ОтветитьPressed the cross now button on the corner of Balmoral & Mt Eden Road, Auckland at about 9.30 at night. Brown NAC bus carrying 71 Lions came to a halt. Oh! the paua! Foresaw that this team would be exceptional and with the All Blacks having lost to the Springboks the previous year, the daze of Colin Meads and Fergie McCormick were coming to an inevitable end.
ОтветитьRIP
ОтветитьBarry could have played James Bond if he decided
ОтветитьY brenin. A special player. R.I.P. diolch yn fawr
ОтветитьStill number one in my mind and always will be.
