I Thought About You - Jimmy Van Heusen (Arranged by: Ben Birchfield)

This arrangement, in essence, happened on complete accident. People often forget and leave music scattered across the music building and one day after a rehearsal, I found a lead sheet of a tune called “I Thought About You” sitting on top of a cabinet in Lab East. I sat down at the piano to play it and started to hear a big band playing the tune in my head. Then, I challenged myself to myself to write a big band arrangement using only the information written on the page. It didn’t take long for my own creative brain to intervene and make this arrangement my own.

This recording of "I Thought About You" is taken from my bachelors degree recital at the University of North Texas. For those of you who know this tune, or have watched the full recital video, you don't have to watch this again unless you want to. However, if the full concert video is too long and you don't have time, this video is probably for you!
