I still play music even if some eight year old kid from China can play much faster than me. Off course people will do art if they want to. I think artist are just afraid about not being able to make money. That's legit. But you know what? This is concern in any area. Last week I was contacted by AI on the phone. I don't know if it was a scam but it sounded unnatural to me. I asked if it's a human and it said it's not.

If anyone is going to learn to use AI, the one thing I would urge would be to search for ethical models as most as possible. Some were formed on legally licensed material, with the willing participation of artists etc. Not all models are the same, if I am to learn how to use this shit to avoid being completely discarded as a person, I would rather be selective

To be fair the way you worded your "Show me a Cow on the Moon" command isn't as specific as you needed it to be. If you had said for instance "show me a cow standing on the surface of the moon" I'm fairly sure you would have gotten something closer to what you were after. Because that IS a cow ON the Moon. The cow is 100% touching that image of the moon lol.

Sounds like less of an issue with AI not understanding our world, and more not understanding the subtleties of the English language (also the fact it isn't able to ask any follow up questions lol, guarantee you a human could have very easily made that same error if English wasn't their first language).

AI may be able to solve hunger and disease, I mean of course it wil! that is exactly why everyone i racing with it to be the first, not the first to solve hunger or disease, they want to be to first to sell us that solutio, it was never about helping or caring solving it wss always about $$$.

Humans are social animals. I don't understand why we want fake art, fake everything to replace that. It just makes no sense at all. What is the point.

AI cant do the job of artists. it never realy will be able to, not perfectly. the concern is that they will replace artists anyway. low quality slop that doesnt look good taking over industry.

I love the clean-up tools, the ordering and searching, the personal assistant ... but then there are flip sides. My perspective as a screenwriter and filmmaker:

I have to make clear that everyone who is making something from a point of mastery probably feels that to a certain degree, their efforts have been made meaningless in retrospect. Creating a stunning experience to share with people was the goal for many of us - and this now no longer requires the sacrifice we made for all these years.

My concern as a filmmaker is that films are going to go away as we know them for 95ish percent: Who funds a 50 million Dollar effort if you can do it with 5 ppl, 15.000€ and some AI tools? Not with an AI concept trailer anyways which - depressingly - is probably going to be just about as good as the final 50 million-dollar project.
Who is going to get to create these AAA things where they still get to feel like they are part of something enormous? Where they get to step on set and think: Wow, all of this is really happening, ey? The costumes, the helicopter, the fake moon we built and these incredible, live, human performances from these talented artists who might soon disappear because it was already hard enough to make it as an actor ...

Another thing: I have been working on building a bigger company and we do films, games, and graphic novels in the same universe: Let me tell you: Doing revisions is not the same thing as creating something. The process of creating is much more rewarding - but these tools will just get better until you have to deliberately put hurdles in your place - which is very uneconomical. So you will art direct but never actually create. Instead, you will get to curate and forget what it actually meant, to speak to that ancient part within yourself - whatever it may be.

It is difficult to get good at something and follow this creative process that you have to pour decades of your life into to master without any possibility of monetization in the end - not before the post-money economy.

Also: Renegotiating the contract of wealth distribution? Yeah - that has always gone well in history. People always agreed on that so well - but maybe this time it's different because ...?

No doubt you are correct that these technologies are not fads. They will not just fade away in a couple of years mainly because they Can’t. The creative capacities are already established and embedded in Everything. But here’s a shout out to genuine collaboration between creative people and AI.

Collaboration and guardrails that keep intact the livelihoods and dignity of the human family are essential.

It is not hard to predict what will happen if the power of AI gets concentrated in the hands of too few.

you know what would solve all the issues - basic income, because if you don't have to worry about food and shelter you're free to do things that are not economically viable.

I will never stop creating art I love it too much. I love creating something from inside me and being able to hold it on a page. I may be much slower then a machine but thats ok. I enjoy the slow progress its a constant hit of dopamine. I would love to see movies come out in the style of these generators, that oil painting look with the glowing light. Imagine a full movie or anime in that style omg I would buy that for sure. Lets create as much as we can...AI included.

I absolutely agree but, we're supposed to be an intelligent species, if we take a look around the world, being honest, do can we honestly say that? Oh, mankind is smart, smart enough to get over their brother and sisters. Famine, homelessness, war over imaginary boundaries. If people understood that nothing on this planet, belongs to anyone, it's simply here for us to use to sustain us, to shelter us, and to create amazing things... buuuuuut here we are dividing ourselves up when the whole time we've had the capability to do things efficiently, efficiently, yet some how people are convinced of the matrix, this made up thing someone once started and no one seemed to see the potential danger and destruction that was going to cause. Maybe not, but as an intelligent species, these problems that we face in society could be eradicated with ease. An AI neuralnetwork uses the combined information of the sum of all of it's parts to solve a problem, you know how was originally built like that? Us. Yet we design an "Artificial Intelligence" that's what we use our intelligence for? We can't be bothered by using our intelligence is it? It's not even hundreds of years of manipulation and humans choosing to live in the moment than to truly build and evolve this species. Complacent, the rest brainwashed and trained to think there isn't a better way so that we don't use our heads. Because it will hurt certain people's pockets. LOL Money was always a scam, started with on person and spread into so many aspect of our life it's been be imprinted on us. We don't need it, and intelligent species would rise regardless and I argue much faster. Big companies and governments don't want us to believe that, so they lay the rhetorical groundwork on thick. It's pretty sick actually. They don't see or don't care how this manipulation of the people is gonna totally blow up in their faces. By then, it'll be too late. Unless people stop the stupidity now. Won't take war, no need to kill each other, it's simple we all work together who needs a bunch of computers to solve and build stuff, we'd have us. We're a deeply fragmented machine, we don't fix that we don't save humanity. Think about how fast AI learns. You realize how much faster we learn, and get better at things, and evolve if WE were the neural network, nut don't mind me let AI do the work for us, we'll keep going to war over imaginary lines people a long time drew out even thought it never belonged to any of them. The truth is buried in every one of us. The programming has made most of us numb to the signal, but it's there. We're meant for something greater, but divided we fall, and it boggles my mind how people seem to be ok with those results. This is why I don't think we are any long an intelligent species, an intelligent species would not get these results. At the very least, before we totally mess this place up and potentially wiping our own selves out, i think people should wake up. Man, I can't stop thinking that we are so much better than this, it's kind of embarrassing. While I love to use AI, we really should be pushing HI before we lose it. If you hadn't thought about that possibility,, ya probably should. Excuse the rant, but ya'll is my brothers and sisters, people taught us to be strangers for their nefarious purposes, we're better than that. we start with healthy discussion, what's not best for one group or another, but what's best for all and us as a species, all this stuff people care about now. I'm not okay with AI art pushed in the same marketplace as other art. AI models created with stolen or unlicensed art should be illegal.
