I hate the cruise lines bringing social media onboard. It really was inappropriate on my Silversea cruise last month

Great job as always, Lucy. While sailing, our crews have always delivered a marvelous holiday. We are always looking for a meaningful way to say "thank you." Who knew noodles were the answer?! Is there another meaningful gift you could share?

Hey Lucy! Do you know if DCL would allow a customer to cover a crewmember's salary for 1 day and "buy" them a day off?
We just got off the Treasure and really wanted to do something special for our stateroom attendant that made our vacation so special. We tipped her well to show our appreciation and gave her a shout out on the survey. But I also saw her being treated not so well by another family and really felt bad. She was all smiles but looked like she was fighting back tears and really seemed like she needed a break. Unfortunately I didn't think of the paid day off idea after we got back home. I called the Castaway club but they were not sure how to arrange something like that and I'm not sure if I would be comfortable paying for it and hoping it is truely followed through.

Have you ever heard of someone arranging a day off for a crew member on a Disney ship?
Is this something you have seen honored?

Do another one!!! It is awesome to see the other side and get a good perspective of how the other side is in hopes more people will not be disrespectful to the crew. We have gotten into the habit of taking candy and leaving a note of thanks each day for our cabin person.

I worked in a hardware store many years ago and we sold pet supplies including bird seed. They came up with a code to use when they seen someone trying to shop lift, they'd pick up the intercom and say " can I some a bag of GREEN birdseed to the register. You don't want to say "I just seen a shoplifter filling up their pockets". lol.

Good analogy - "Television on stand-by" My TV switches to stand by after 2 hours on not changing the channel. Most of the time it is a pain in the posterior. Great vlog as usual! Great info and perspective from other crew members who are examples of the Seafarers life as you have told us! Thank you! 😎😎😎

I’m confused in every other cruise vlog we’ve watched it says NOT to buy the crewmembers things because they could get in trouble for accepting them?? we just got back from a cruise a week ago on the Brilliance of the seas and I brought thank you cards and wrote personal notes to each of the crew members who made our stay amazing. I also bought little Mapleleaf pins (as were from Canada) and slipped them to the crewmembers whom we saw the most often & knew us by name by the end of the week…like the guys at the Starbucks😅
So am I ok to leave a “care package” with things like laundry pods, dryer sheets, toothpaste, etc for my cabin attendant as a thank you for our next cruise?

So many similarities to being deployed in the military. Your analogy of the TV never fully switched off was perfect. Throw on top of that the risk of having indirect fire hit you at any time and it is just like being crew. You never fully rest. Sweet spot on a deployment is the same too. A A few months in everything clicks and works, but toward the end, it is impossible to make anything happen. Thanks for the great video.

I have a question about emergency evacuation and muster stations. Obviously all guests are required to go to their muster station shortly after embarkation. However, the life jackets are stored in the cabins. If there was a true emergency, are guests expected to go to their cabin and get their life jacket and then go to their muster station, or just go straight to their muster station from wherever they are?

We're taking a NCL cruise out of Rome in June. I'm from the states. I'd like to bring our rm steward some little gifts/snacks... of course, we'll be giving money... but we'd like to bring something else... now we live in Hershey... but im guessing chocolate isn't a good treat... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

With regards to the not having dairy left in your fridge, especially on inspection days, before inspection day are you ‘allowed’ to have dairy in your fridge at all during the week if they don’t know about it and you get rid of it before inspection day? As well as, does the label of ‘dairy’ products include non-dairy alternatives like oat milk etc? 😅

Question for you! I can’t decide between Virgin Voyages for Royal Caribbean. I really want the chance to work a cruise in Asia in Shorex—but by trade im a group event coordinator and I know that Virgin pays more and treats people better. I’m worried about losing out on travel opportunities…..it’s silly but do you have any advice? I suppose I could spend my month or two in between contracts wandering around Asia haha
