Alien Taste of Fragrance by Thierry Mugler: Perfume Review / Fragrance Review

Your review comes up just as I'm wearing the same perfume. Creepy! I find the caramel note just as confusing as the hot/cold thing you're talking about, one minute it's all jasmine and the next moment I smell like a bucket of leathery salty dessert (leathery dessert, dibs!), and it keeps doing that for hours and hours. I wish you could pick that caramel note up, you'd love it!

I love your playful but thorough videos! I normally don't wear perfume because I tend to get sinus attacks from other people abusing perfume. However, I've always wanted to try them if I could find one delicate enough for me. I would love to see a review on j'adore as it seems to be very popular these days. Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

J'Adore is a symphonic floral, might be too big for you, but you could try the lighter version of it called J'Adore L'Eau. A new one you might like is Freak by Illamasqua: the name makes you think it'll be intense, but in fact, it's a fresh, clean scent floral underpinned with some interesting woody notes.

I know this has nothing to do with this video but I need some advice. I am looking in to getting a new fragrance. Celebrating my new job I am looking to purchase a expensive parfume/cologne. I want a Bond No. 9 or By Kilian. I want to know which you would recommend from these two fragrance houses by the list of fragrances I have. I have scents ranging from Jean Paul Gaultier - Le Male, Chanel - Allure Sport and Blanche, Blue de Chanel, Burberry Britt, and Disele Only the Brave.

Congrats on your new job! Going from your current scent wardrobe (all very light, fresh smells) to By Kilian and Bond No. 9 could be tricky, since those lines are uniformly dense, busy and heavy. They also have much more perfume oil in their formulations, so they will be a lot stronger on the skin. Bond No. 9 have exploded with new releases over the years, so I'm not up to speed with them any more. The ones I love there wouldn't be a match for you.

Thanks for replying! I am going to head over to Saks this week to test some out. Are their any other lines you wold recommend looking at? Some one told me to look at HM by Hanae Mori?

The By Killian you might try is A Taste of Heaven, a rich, complex lavender. There's a new one coming out that I've not smelled yet that looks lighter: Bamboo Harmony. But veering off into other brands, also check out Creed Original Vetiver and the new one from Miller Harris, Le Pamplemousse and Vetiver by Chanel.

Yes, check out HM. (I've got a review up on the channel.) And the Bond No. 9 SA will be able to guide you to the ones that match your tastes.

Whoops, I mean "Sycomore by Chanel", which is a vetiver fragrance. And while you're at Saks, try Lalique Encre Noire, another beautiful vetiver fragrance.

I finally went to Saks today and found my new fragrance!!!! I ended up with Saks for Men by Bond No.9 and might also be going back and getting Montauk by Bond No. 9 as well! The didn't have any of the By Kilian for smelling, They only had Bamboo Harmony which I would of had to buy to smell.

Sounds like you've made the leap over to woodsy/incensey. One of my fave Bond No. 9s is an incense: Silver Factory.

I guess! It smelled like root beer on me. It was amazing. She also gave me a 7ML pocket spray of Little Italy for free.

Is this still really similar to the original alien? Ive ordered this one but ive only smelled the original and aqua chic.

Thankyou. It has arrived now and I love it. I think I do smell the caramel and the jasmine isnt as suffocating as I found in the original. On paper that menthol is more apparent but I think the fragrance is lovely. Ill have to wear it some more to see if I prefer it to the original.

Katie do you like any of the summer editions of Alien? I love the original but I can't decide if I should have one of the edt's just for casual day wear. It seems the mugler house has new flankers each and every year and it's so confusing... Would you recommend any of those?

I can't keep them all straight - it is confusing, isn't it? I remember liking the Sunessence from last year. But it's just flanker overload with Mugler, I find. You practically have to be a dedicated Mugler scholar to keep on top of them all.

Hi Katie, I don't know where else to ask ( request) have you done a review for the new Roberto cavalli for women? it comes in a beautiful golden bottle with monogram cap. It has Very mixed reviews and I am curious of your opinion.

I noticed you have both the TOF Womanity and Alien bottles. Did you buy the collection? Also, I got a sample of TOF Alien earlier and don't get any caramel either. Rather I smell this Barbie head plastic note, in fact I detect a bit of plastic in all Mugler fragrances (maybe not Angel though). Can you identify with that?

I was sent the TOF collection from Mugler PR. The reviews for the other two (Angel and Amen) are forthcoming). Preview: I didn't like them. I know what you mean about the plastic doll head smell, but I don't remember keying into it with these. I'd have to revisit with that in mind.

The taste of fragrance Alien is pretty good, but there seems to be like liquorice smell to it? It is still very sexy and long lasting. But if you like gourmads the Angel version is just amazing the chocolate is good enough to eat, and there is way less patchouli. Its a tough call smell them both before purchasing because both are expensive! Either way I think its a win win!

The lady at the counter sprayed this on me and told me to try it. It's amazing.. so different but that caramel soooo does it for me. I had so many compliments and it has such a beautiful long lasting dry down.
