This was, according to IMDb, S8, ep 1 of the "NBC Special Treat" series.

Nancy McKeon and David Saunders are the hosts who take turns accompanying five children on three separate adventures in Chicago.

Ordinarily, I would edit the commercials out but since these advertisements are 40 years old, I've opted to leave them in on the off-chance someone watching this is excited about the Happi Returns doll, ZooRoni, Hubba Bubba, Ronald McDonald and the Return of the Fry Guys, Manglors or Franco-American's UFOs pasta or the All the World Loves M&Ms jingle.

04:55 - the kids start off at the Academy of Sciences then take an overnight canoe trip with Sieur de La Salle reenactor Reid Lewis.

28:53 -the kids experience a day at Cominsky Park. On hand to give the kids some pointers on hitting home runs, pitching and stealing bases are Ron Kittle, Gaylord Perry and First Base Coach Dave Nelson.

40:01 - the kids start off at the Museum of Science & Industry's exhibit 'Yesterday's Main Street' then visit the set of "Sixteen Candles." The focus is on the business side of the creative process so rather than interviewing the direct or or stars of the film. we hear from the 1st Assistant Director, a cameraman, a set designer and spend time in make-up and wardrobe. Actor Tony Longo (1961-2015) is the only cast member to interact with the KidsTown, U.S.A. team.
