Amazing video! Thanks for the great job 👏
ОтветитьThe early Orthodox Religous genre, of Mary, the Christ child and John the Baptist and his Mother, actually depict John cradled in the arms of Mary, the Christ child is actually standing at the back of the scene, of course there skin tone is dark.
Its fascinating to consider the connotations as it validates the influences on Raphael, medevial Europe the Dark Ages was the artists sable a progressive artistic plagarism of the "Whitewashing of European art, in tandem with the greater aquiesce of Roman Cathlocism. 🎉🍺🍺😎👍🤠🌹🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘
So blessed by Matthias Wival talk
ОтветитьAn absolutely marvelous talk. Does what excellent criticism does - opens doors for the viewer so that their appreciation is deepened. Thank you very much.
ОтветитьMatthias gets more compliments than Raphael himself. Ok anyway.. 😊
ОтветитьRaphael: “what the hell is this guy saying? Somebody offered me money to paint a picture of Mary, John, & Jesus. So I did. Nothing more, nothing less.”
ОтветитьExcellent performance!
ОтветитьYou see Maria with the 3 boys on Raphael‘s painting called Madonna Terranuova
ОтветитьSometimes we see three little boys with the Madonna? Why ? It is kept a secret. Rudolf Steiner gave the answer but the fierce dark occult force of the Catholic Church would still murder anybody who would speak about it, if it could do so as in their past inquisition period.
ОтветитьGrazie per questo meraviglioso discorso.
ОтветитьIt’s frustrating when someone so knowledgeable mispronounces the artist’s name. It’s “Ra fai ell” not “Raffle”. Cmon dude, get it right.
ОтветитьThe National Gallery: this is VERY INTERESTING & INFORMATIVE!
ОтветитьBrilliant lecture. Many enjoyed.Thankyou for this art fest.
ОтветитьНет , ну серьезно 😟 ,))
Либо картины «устали « от такой подачи материала , а может Гид(гад) , подустал ))
Все ж таки не «Джоконда « ..
ПыСы : 😑 скучно , увы 😪
I agree!
ОтветитьThank for schowing mee this kind madonna peace
Ответитьbetter angles of our nature
ОтветитьThese lectures are so educational! Thank you !!!
ОтветитьProfound thanks once again for an excellent talk. I have learned so much, and come away wishing to learn more.
ОтветитьMy personal opinion: all museum walls should be medium grey (what photographers call 18% grey). This is neutral both in colour and in light, and doesn't interfere with the appreciation of the painting. A red wall introduces a "background noise" in the perception of the viewer.
ОтветитьExcelente
ОтветитьI value Matthias Wivel and his eloquent lectures. He is also one of the curatorial minds behind the current Raphael exhibition at the National Gallery. Be aware that this event may cause fainting or other physical symptoms due to the sheer wonder and genius that is Raphael.
Ответитьclear and informative lecture. thank you!
Ответить👏👏👏 great lesson and filming 🌼🌻🌺🌹
ОтветитьWonder why Raphael paints John The Baptist wearing a fur skin, likening Esau and his mother, Rebekah ?
The stem of the red carnation curves around the mother's nipple suggesting Christ's roots going back to David on his mother's side.
Stem, each leaf being an ancestor (or descendants).
The mother here has a hold on two different pieces of fabric, the two destinies of her sons.
Looks like Rebecca and her two sons Esau and Jacob. She looks upon Esau, her favourite with fondness. Esau with the ruddy complexion. It looks like Jacob is giving Esau the flower, the birthright. The scene through the window behind Esau is darker while the scene through the window behind Jacob is lighter with the sun on the pathway.
Esau is holding The Cross, birthright and his lot was heavy.
Are you sure this isn't Rebekah, Esau and Jacob?
Perhaps Raphael was merging the two stories, if the correct title is Madonna, Christ and John The Baptist.
I love all your videos! Thank you! But how about less time on the speakers, & more time on the art! Show the art! Please! Every detail, every corner, let speakers talk, & let us see the art!
ОтветитьIt is a very beautiful harmony in madonnas and jezus child composition. From mine point of you l liked mainly Leonardos compositions but apriciate with some musik background is enjoyble inspiration for adoration virgin and the child.thanks...
ОтветитьIt is good to hear the English language, as it were, in such safe hands. It is music to the ears.
ОтветитьOne is always pleasantly assaulted by the breathtaking immediate beauty of paintings by Raphael.
ОтветитьWonderful !
ОтветитьIn light of the current exhibition, I found this talk very helpful and well presented.
ОтветитьThis artwork is sooooo fascinating! Thank you for sharing this lecture!
ОтветитьIs the frame original?
ОтветитьI believe that the painting was small because Raphael used Indigo blue for his Virgins.
ОтветитьJesus was a Jew but in the painting he is not circumcised.....
ОтветитьDoes anyone else see the suggestion of the cross formed by the darker wall sections behind the three figures? Not sure if that would have been intentional as foreshadowing or just me…
ОтветитьRaphael's paintings are always a pleasure to see for me.
ОтветитьThanks for you analysing Raffaelos Madonna really good positive phylosophy schows at this beautifull Madonna and Jezuschild.Have a nice christmas.
ОтветитьA masterclass in exposition - engaging, educational, eloquent.
ОтветитьYour presentation gave me a lot to think about which, given my age and LA, USA location, is even more to think about.. Thanks so much.
ОтветитьLove the passion Mr. Wivel gave to this lecture. I wish l could transport myself into the moment when Raphael through, sketched and painted this or all his paintings.
ОтветитьI had always interpreted this as Jesus giving the flower to St John.
ОтветитьRaffaello the prince of painters. ..
ОтветитьCould this Madonna & Child have Raphael depicting in the background that the windows and wall actually suggest the cross? Sort of a prefiguring and reflection that theology of the cross...
ОтветитьBrilliant. Could the handing of the carnation be the other way round, Jesus giving it to John?
ОтветитьIf he saw something in another’s works and developed it or used it in his own original work it isn’t stealing. It is all part of the great conversation of art, just as it is in the great conversation of science or philosophy. It is only stealing when one appropriates another’s work wholesale, and without attribution.
ОтветитьI do wish I had seen something like this before I went to to the Ashmolean's exhibition of Raphael's drawings. Everything I saw there was amazing, but I feel I would have been even more amazed [and better informed] if I had seen a lecture like this first. Still, it was one of the best days of my life...I got to see not only all those beautiful Raphael drawings but so many other wonderful things in the museum. My sister and I were there for the whole day.
ОтветитьCan’t get enough of these talks ❣️
