The Company

Cavino, which was founded in 1958, is located on the slopes of Aigialia, amid charming vineyards. It produces wines that are distributed throughout Greece and in 50 countries all over the world. Its wines have won awards in international competitions and from world-class reputable wine writers and critics.

The company, closely following the modern developments of the time, has been modernized in recent years with state-of-the-art technological equipment in all areas of production. Four new bottling lines took over to ensure the quality of the wines and spirits (ouzo, tsipouro and brandy), at the same time that air-conditioned storage areas of 5,000 m2 took over their ideal storage over time.



The Need

Cavino's need was to modernize its industrial equipment in its alcoholic products bottling lines and to automate and digitize its production processes, so as to achieve increased productivity and greater flexibility, with the aim of reducing costs and increasing profit.

The Solution

Theodorou Group fully understanding the need of Cavino, analyzed, proposed and proceeded to implement its proposal which includes automatic dynamic weighing and marking, automatic product handling, smart sorting using cameras, robotic palletizing, automatic handling, wrapping and marking of pallets.

At the same time, with the utilization of modern Industrial Internet of Things technologies and the Theodorou Group's suite of industrial software solutions, two-way data transfer was achieved between the information systems of various departments of the company and the production equipment, resulting in the intelligent management of production and finally the complete digitization of production processes.

The Benefits

With the completion of the project by the Theodorou Group, Cavino automated the handling and management of all packaging levels of the final product, increased the available production time while ensuring high quality levels and switched to paperless production execution and reporting. In addition, with the interconnection of all its production equipment, it managed to provide a real-time picture of the production to the involved departments, to have flexibility and to be able to make timely decisions, based on valid data. Finally, it ensured full traceability and was given the possibility to identify essential action plans to improve its production processes.

In practice, an order entered by the sales department, with the minimum possible operational steps, is systematically transformed into production orders to be executed by the production department and then delivered to the logistics department with the final products ready for invoicing and shipping to the customer.
