BA is no longer a British airline. It's owned by IAG, a Spanish conglomerate. Everything has suffered since the buyout. A once great airline is now no better than United Airlines, and that is very sad.
ОтветитьAs a brit this is so sad, I recon its complacency and bean counters running the show
ОтветитьTBF I feel that BA has pretty much mirrored ENGLAND itself sadly
ОтветитьAlex Cruz happened. Thats the start of the real decline. Cost-cutting everything, for shareholder gains and a complete & total disregard for staff, he tried so hard to try to turn BA into a LCC - to compete with them.
But this is where it went wrong. There are people who want to pay the higher fare price and would rather not fly low-cost.
Thankfully the new CEO seems to care more about the hard-working and fantastic staff here and the future is looking a little more promising.
British airways hmm
ОтветитьI would say BA may close sooner or later.
ОтветитьWhile BAs business model has changed, I believe their crew still live up to the old mentality. More than once I've gotten complementary food service and a free checked-in bag. They are advertising a Ryanair-like product, but provide something far better. Although it doesn't come close to true legacy carriers.
ОтветитьI recently flew British airways Lhr/Sin and am surprised to say it completely outshone the Sin/Lhr leg on Singapore airlines. I would never have said that prior pandemic, but British airways has recently stepped up its gamewhilst Singapore airlines has become a lowcost airline.
ОтветитьFlew out to the US on American Airlines 3 years ago in one of their much lauded reverse herringbone seats, Was as hard as a park bench and my head was right next to the aisle. Flew back in BA in club on the upper deck of a 747. Lovely soft seat, was the best flight experience I've ever had.
Great video by the way.
Good video but shame you had so much footage of people wearing facemasks. This is NOT normal behaviour, neither should it be allowed to become the 'new normal'. Personally I have no intention of ever flying again until everything is back to normal, and that means no masks worn by anyone (passengers or staff/crew) no vaccine requirements, no form-filling etc. etc. Sick of this total farce now!
ОтветитьToo many Strikes over two decades. Strikes destroy profit and character. I believe the Spaniards now own it. British Airways also charged exorbitant prices. But it's really the strike after strike that did that airline.
ОтветитьI flew on British Airways for my first time in January 2020. Never again. Absolutely awful. Give me an Asian Airline anyday. Qatar, EVA, Cathay Pacific, Malaysian, Thai, and even Royal Jordanian and Bagladesh. Great service on all of them. The cabin crew from Bangkok to London was terrible. And the Premium economy wasn't even good. small seats and not much extra legreoom.
ОтветитьMy mum worked for Dan Air, she worked on their switchboard in London and was there when a plane crash happened in Tenerife. She had to take calls from the families of the missing.
ОтветитьWe had them in my country for only 10 years now if you want to fly with with them then you need a connecting flight to South Africa and that’s way more expensive than just using Emirates or Ethiopian hence why most people in the southern part of Africa prefer those 2 over BA
ОтветитьThanks a lot for this interesting video. A few weeks ago, I checked out booking a British Airways flight from Vancouver to Heathrow. I have to fly through Fort Worth, Texas. Quite a detour. I won't be flying that route. My favourite British airlines was British Calendonian. My parents used to fly on it from Prestwick to JFK back in the early 1970s; as a kid I went along a couple of times. I remember total luxury. It was impressive and I don't think we were in First Class.
ОтветитьI recently flew a BA 787 in economy. Best flight of my life, (besides my one business flight) crew super nice, food was way better than expected, super quiet, and comfortable. It's still really good, just depends on the flight.
ОтветитьI really enjoy BA. Having worked for a UK company I traveled from the US to the UK and found BA WAY better than US based airlines. The one caveat to that was US Airways which I did enjoy when I used to travel to PR. Although I haven’t flown Virgin I still think BA is head and shoulders above every US airline.
ОтветитьThe main thing I like about BA is the little things, metal cutlery, glass stemware, and polite staff. I will fly with BA as long as the food and service remain a cut above, I don’t care nearly as much about the model of airplane of movie selection
ОтветитьYour video's are sooo good
ОтветитьThis is unfortunately the same situation for Qantas Airways.
ОтветитьI did British airways, it was actually really nice! Good entertainment systems, didn’t really eat the food, comfortable, I mean I don’t mind it, but this was my experience, some people might’ve had other ones that were bad, so, yeah.
ОтветитьIn December 2021 we flew from Amman, Jordan to Phoenix via Heathrow on two separate British Airways (BA) flights. The differences were night and day. Briefly, the Ammann leg was what I'd expect from a budget airline, and the London-Phoenix leg was what I expected from BA (or, for that matter, United). Both flights were on BA aircraft with BA crews. The most outrageous element of the Amman leg was the lack of a meal on a six-hour flight. No meals, not even available for purchase, only pretzels and drinks. IIRC the seats did not recline. The aircraft was a 737 with NO business or first class on the plane, just a few rows up front with improved legroom. Some passengers with first-class tickets near us were pissed, and I don't mean drunk. We always fly economy, so our expectations weren't high, but this flight was ridiculous. I recall the Phoenix leg was on a 787 with a reasonable level of service. So beware if you travel BA to/from some countries, you won't get the usual level of service.
ОтветитьThis was a bit hard on BA I’ve personally flown them more then any other airline and it’s my favourite airline even in economy you get spacious chairs free water and food and I personally enjoy it. You keep saying you don’t get drinks anymore but you do, sleeper head rests recliner seats its still a enjoyable airline
ОтветитьTwo Words: Richard Branson
ОтветитьI LOVE removing recline. I HATE people reclining into me.
And what kind of douche reclines on a non night flight - specially on short haul?
Flew BA last week LGW to MRU on their Boeing 777 economy. Service felt basic and the meals were very average. Not bad but didn’t impress. Plane wasn’t the cleanest. Chewing gum stuck in between the seat pocket and safety card. Toilets were acceptable not the best. The Magic that was once there was missing. I would rate it 6 out of 10
ОтветитьWell done on educational videos. It’s hard to imagine BA used to set the standard for the industry when I was small, given its successful race to the bottom today. I hope BA will keep adapting to changing consumer expectations and I sincerely sincerely hope more consumers will look for more than just the price.
ОтветитьFeel so sad for BA 747s😢😢😢😢 they could’ve been saved and brought back.
ОтветитьI’m a half brit, half spaniard. As a half brit, it’s appalling to see BA in such a state, especially from what they used to be.
ОтветитьI few BA LHR to Istanbul someone had been sick the flight before I bordered wants cleaned properly I asked to be moved or cleaned was basically told to do 1 never again have I flown them nor will i ever fly them..
ОтветитьI'm planning to fly business class on them. It will be a 777 with the new suites. Never had a lie flat seat before
ОтветитьLike many think British, it has gone to shit due to immigration
ОтветитьIn other words, airline deregulation made flights much cheaper. However, this came at the price of service, quality and the legacy of traditional airlines which were forced to reduce their service also. The side effects were more delays, more chaos, more bags being misplaced or lost. But honestly, would a majority be ready to pay higher prices for improvement? Maybe in the Middle East and Far East where service and comfort still matter, but not here in the West.
ОтветитьTypical british thingy. They first started it great and now they're the worst, British airways is an exception tho
ОтветитьWe lost Concorde and that was the start of the decline
ОтветитьAbsolutely the worst airline in the world
ОтветитьNow they have gone to shit
ОтветитьBritish airways is still miles better then US airlines
ОтветитьBritish Airways are a bunch of shysters
ОтветитьThere really isn't any reason to fly ba when u just end up getting the same level of service as you would on easyjet
ОтветитьI love flying British airways I fly in club about twice a month
ОтветитьX1.25
Ответитьso, why did they retire the 747? I can think of multiple routes it could likely fill that couldn't use an A380 (London-Seattle and London-Philadelphia, to name a couple)
ОтветитьAn excellent history here, quite like the mournful music lamenting the bygone era. That said, Aegean Airlines in Greece maintains a full service provision on what is a short and medium haul network despite having to compete heavily with Low Cost Carriers. If Aegean can do this and make money why not BA or Lufthansa?
Ответить"Our demands changed and BA changed with them". What??? This is the dumbest video I've ever seen. BA is a notoriously bad airline, as anyone who's ever flown them knows. Canceled and delayed flights, lost bags, shite service. I've personally stopped flying BA after they fucked up multiple business trips and holidays. Dustbin airline.
ОтветитьLease programme❤❤❤❤
