Its always a bunch of posh or well spoken British wannabe chavs they put on these shows! I'd like to see a show where they put real Scottish neds from the hardest young teams on it. I doubt they'd put up with being screamed at, and we'd see fights, some entertainment! The prison guards are on a power trip. Most bullies are victims of bullying or abuse themselves, and its hard to heal that kind of trauma.

The morgue 100% and telling about deaths and SEEING smelling and hearing the whole story about it they should always do because it’s the biggest impact on these young people to be a better human being.

This essay will explore the effects of the behaviourist approach on the youth, as well as general aspects of the behaviour approach and how they work in themselves.
Firstly, in the clip we can see a group of young people, in their teens, all at the age generally most associated with making poor decisions, leading to being held accountable for their actions in the court of law, and ultimately, prison. They are shown all the worst aspects of prison (in the workers' opinions) to attempt to show them the consequences of poor choices, so they refrain from making them.
Operant conditioning can absolutely be seen in the clip, evident through various methods. One example can be positive punishment, where they are given the understanding of all the horrific things that take place in a prison which is a consequence of crime (hostile, unmonitored behaviour, dehumanisation, corpses, etc) and giving them this gives them a negative association, this negative experience makes it likely for them to refrain from making poor/criminal decisions as a result. Another example could be negative punishment, taking away their freedom and quality of life (for a day experience) intended to therefore impact how they perceive a life of crime, and therefore acting as another deterrent, steering them away from it so they are less likely to engage in it. These two methods overall are very effective, providing them with education to actively punish them and show them how their behaviour can have consequences.
Next up, classical conditioning is very applicable in the context of the clip and the prison experience they were put through. We can see that to start off with, they were clearly a bit apprehensive about the experience, probably naively thinking the experience won’t change their point of view, perhaps being even a bit arrogant and not taking it seriously. However, when they start off seeing the horrible behaviour and things (unconditioned stimulus), they of course feel scared, uncomfortable, and generally do not react positively to these stimuli. The lewd comments make them feel vulnerable and afraid, and the stench of the bodies induce disgust. It is then reinforced that this happens to one if one engages in criminal acts (neutral stimulus), ultimately getting caught, being processed by the court of law and ending up in prison. Overtime, the more unpleasant things are shown, and reminded of the engagement in criminal behaviour, as well as how it can result in this, they overtime develop a strong association of bad/criminal behaviour, and fear/disgust (conditioned response).
Finally, social learning theory is a big part of the education of these teenagers. They were shown lots of prisoners, driven wild and with a loss of inhibition or any real mental wellness. This simple display, added to the equal dissatisfaction of the authority, actively displaying these things as negative, and a prime example of the worst things in prison, this added to their apprehension, and the association of this with crime and big authority figures likely strongly affected them, inducing a strong repulsion from criminal behaviour. Furthermore, the other teenagers, each expressing an outward display of fear and uncomfortableness, them being their peers, each affected them individually, setting an example for how they should feel about these consequences, and ultimately the source of these consequences (criminal actions). Finally, all these negative displays are of course intended to be shown to them to show how they want to actively avoid them, both intrinsically since these displays are vile, and extrinsically since authority and peers show an apprehension to these things, fostering an apprehension in each individual from crime, criminal behaviour, and general bad decisions.
This essay briefly explores the contents of the clip, and how each aspect of the behaviourist could be seen and applied to this clip, as well as ultimately how each one works, aspects of each one, all whilst each is tactfully applied to the contents of the clip.

If anyone should read this who is in the same age and situation like the teens shown in the video, stay away from people who sell drugs, are in a gang and all that sh.. I used to sell pounds of weed in my early 20s, just like one of the inmates, as soon as I had some stacks in my pocket nobody could tell me nothing. Got caught and had to spend some time in jail. Even if you think you are careful enough to not getting caught, just be aware that the mistakes from another person in that circle can land you in jail, that happened to me. Lost some friends, money was gone and I couldn’t leave the country for 2 years. I know that being so young can be tough and you’ll stiff figuring out who you are and where you belong but just remember, selling drugs and gang banging will get you nowhere in life. You’ll still be searching for something but that something comes from the right partner, from the right friends and from being a good person. Stop acting tough, stay on the good path, once you’ll get close to 30, you’ll understand. 🙏🏻

this isn't a way to treat kids. after this experience they will first feel scared- and then angry. vengeful for being put in that situation by the system they trust. vengeful to the parents & guardians who thought this would be a way to control them. angry that they're trying to be controlled in the first place. having this experience also desensitizes them to prison- destigmatizing it in some way
