I do the same with my deck and mechanism only I have the jsaux Modcase which is pretty similar. Maybe the differences are pretty minor. I use it with the pillow which feels essential to me. I'll do the same thing with the Switch 2. A Modcase is in the works for it. Just need an extra adapter for the Modcase attachment.
ОтветитьI do love my Steam Deck, but I do like the cheap throw ins too. I think there's a handheld for every use case.
ОтветитьPlease review the Legion Go S (steamos) when it's out! I really want to hear your opinion and comparison with the steam deck
ОтветитьI keep wanting to love and daily drive the Steamdeck, but it just can't outcompete the OLED Switch, with Satisfye grip, for me. Main problems include:
1) I usually play while laying on my back, elbows propped on a couch, with the system hovering in front of my face. The vanilla steamdeck just isn't as comfortable as the Switch in this configuration for my hands; I have to put pressure inward to prevent the deck from sliding down my palms, which starts to be uncomfortable. I haven't seen a grip that can match what the Satisfye does for Switch.
2) The touchscreen on at least my steamdeck, with a tempered glass screen protector, is rough; it takes a lot of presses and re-presses to get it to respond to inputs. It's nowhere near as responsive as, say, a smartphone. It annoys me to try and get it to let me navigate freely through things. The full SteamOS experience requires me to use the touchscreen fairly often if I want to navigate everything I want to do, whereas with the Switch I almost never have to even try touching the touchscreen because the system is designed such that I don't have to to get done what I want. All that said, it hasn't been enough of an issue to try and troubleshoot it, and I can try and steer around using the touchscreen in many cases; it's just a niggle to add to the pile.
3) The sleep mode on the Steamdeck, while pretty solid, is still not as good as the Switch. I put things into sleep mode a TON, like sometimes after a minute of gameplay, sometimes 40 times in an hour. The deck isn't as reliable or perfectly smooth about it as the Switch (which will only crash a game after I've done ~200+ sleep/out-of-sleep cycles over the course of 20+ days without actually rebooting the game). Also, I adore the Switch's use of a homescreen that basically puts the whole game experience into complete suspended animation; I can drop it into that space and be able to browse a few other things without the gameplay, or game clock, continuing in the background.
4) The Steamdeck requires tinkering in many scenarios. I can't just play whatever is available whenever, without some meta consideration. Because it's more of a PC-like experience, not just a pure gaming experience, games don't just work and flow; they can often require messing with various settings to get the best performance. While I do appreciate that option, I do tech work all day; when I go to game, I don't want to have to do more tech work to play. I want to just play. The Steamdeck can't promise this experience.
5) This one's kind of unfair to the Steamdeck, but it's still a factor for me. Because it's a PC, and because it's a Steam device (where Steam on Windows has a wonderful game-experience-sharing function), I expect this device to let me stream games to friends with full voice, gameplay, and game-sound streaming support. It won't. To me, this should be baked into the OS, not something I have to cobble together a bunch of apps to make work. Either this is something Valve has determined isn't very valuable to invest in, or maybe they want to leave it to the Linux version of Discord (or something else), I don't know; the point is, though, I wanted a Steamdeck largely to not have to deal with using a PC to share gameplay experiences with friends. And I've been waiting for it. Still nothing solid over 3 years later, and all of the wobbly side versions I've tried have been terrible experiences. It sours the Steamdeck for me.
6) The Steamdeck isn't as stable as a Switch. Having played it 20x less than a Switch, I've still had more game crashes, weird behavior from verified games, PC-like oddities, etc. It's definitely a PC in that manner. At least it's a portable one with a great set of buttons; that far and away recommends it to me compared with a standard PC experience. This point also isn't strictly fair; game consoles, when done right, are rock solid. They can curate and force a very specific, crisp experience. A broad system like the Steamdeck simply cannot compete with that when it's trying to make "everything" available to play, and when it enables endless tinkering from the community.
All that said, I still have and appreciate having a Steamdeck. There are many games that can't play on a Switch, or that won't come out on it, that only the SD can do (compared to a Switch, anyway). And I also want to offer that I don't think this comparison is fair; what the Switch does just isn't the same thing as what a Steamdeck does. There are many cases to be made for a Steamdeck being superior to a Switch on so many levels. But as a pure gameplay experience designed to abstract the tech and tinkering away from the player, making the game and only the game your focus? I don't think the Steamdeck can come close to a Switch.
Oh sick, love the mewithoutyou shirt! I still love their first album :)
ОтветитьUSA UK Dude, get a Steam Deck.
This is the proper title.
I approve of this message. And to any game too heavy for it to handle, streaming is already working like black magic folks, boosteroid, GeForce now, just choose one
ОтветитьDeck is without a doubt the single best value for money gaming purchase I have ever made. Was also my gateway drug to Linux as a bonus.
ОтветитьI'm from Mexico and I bought one imported from amazon, I've been using it for about 7 months, its the base one, and it has changed everything, steam games are so much cheaper than buying indies in consoles
ОтветитьPatiently waiting for the Steamdeck 2 knowing for a fact that they won't make the next one.
ОтветитьSteam will be better if use memory cards
ОтветитьBest purchase ive ever made
ОтветитьIs it okay to still this june 2025?
Ответитьanalog stick placement sucks, for my hands.
ОтветитьI’ll get one when the new comes.
ОтветитьPlease do a video on which smaller AMD handhelds would be best candidates to put Steam OS on, now that it’s out. Thanks.
ОтветитьI love my steam deck ❤. I love how it feels natural when playing retro games like ps2 games 😊
ОтветитьI was considering buy a Switch 2, but now that the fine print is coming from the shadows, I think I'd better go with a Steam Deck.
ОтветитьLOL @ the way you cheated weapon durability in your Breath of the Wild install. Maybe if I did that I'd finally actually beat the game
ОтветитьNice shirt!
ОтветитьSorry I don't like playing pc ganes at 720p 20fps for an hour and a half before it dies
ОтветитьAlas my SteamDeck OLED broke within a month... I was going to send it back to Valve, but I got Kidney complications and started on dialysis, surprising how absolutely nothing in your life matters when you are walking around with 15 litres of excess water on your body (or not walking around as the case was). So now the SteamDeck sits in a box under my coffee table taking up space. I'm an idiot for not doing something about it and making up for all that money I spent. Sucks to be me.
I thought the SteamDeck was awesome. Even bought the dock for it... Whats odd, is as a day one adopter of tech I haven't had anything fail on me within the first year, or even first 5 years except for the SteamDeck.
I had a steam deck but sold it due to its size and non windows os. Living in the UK I’m fortunate to have CeX, electronics trading store.
I’ve swapped it for a GPD win 4, I don’t mind the size of the screen or battery life as I have Anker 27650mah prime.
I did really like how I could get a clear case, grip case with external fan…
I got my steam deck a few months after getting my pc. I've heard people talk about the steam deck before that and didnt think it would be any better than the switch but then wanted a way to play my games away from home and decided to do some research. Then I bought one. Best purchase ive ever made! I have used it so much its more than made up for the cost!
ОтветитьI honestly hate it. It's too chunky. Sure it's "handheld" but the experience is horrible. It'll be accepted knowledge the thing sucks in a couple years but for now it's still the emperor's new clothes.
ОтветитьFor a lot of my indie games I'll use desktop mode because i can use any browser i want to play podcasts or music while i game like I would on my pc. always works awesome
ОтветитьBut I heard you cannot play AAA in good quality ( 30fps) like BG3. Is that true?
ОтветитьIf you really have to have windows and dont want to deal with any linux workarounds for most games, just get a ROG ally instead.
ОтветитьEmuDeck lets you just link to Emulation Station alone if that's all you want. It's how I do it.
ОтветитьThe steam deck is to limited because it lacks options
ОтветитьSteam Decks are redundant. If I want to play PC games I'll either play on my Gaming Desktop or Gaming Laptop. And both of those can do more than just play games.
Ответитьcan't believe i missed the memo on the deckmate rebrand, was really confused for a second thinking "wait i recognize that mechanism from Mechanism"
ОтветитьI originally did not intend to get a Steam Deck because I did not want to jump into the bandwagon, but I bit the bullet and bought one in 2023. No regrets. I actually use my Steam account, I love how many games are on sale (even ones I've played before), and of course: emulation! Which is the primary reason I got it.
ОтветитьAfter years of wanting to dab into a gaming PC, but not wanting a whole big set up for it my friend sold me his steam deck when he wanted to upgrade to the OLED version and it’s been such a good experience just to have the steam deck with the dock hooked to my monitor And it’s been so easy since then it’s nice not to have just a big tower in the way
ОтветитьDude, i'm broke
ОтветитьIrs heavy… i like to play games while on bed with steam deck on top my face…,when i fell asleep, the deck drops on my face!! Ouch!!
ОтветитьWhat’s the benefit of this over a way more powerful gaming laptop with a way higher quality controller?
ОтветитьWell instead i got a legion go but its still just as good
ОтветитьI mean, if you can't get a Steam Deck; then dude, get a used Steam Deck.
ОтветитьI still have my Xbox 360 and PS4, but the fact that I can emulate or buy games from every era, including what feels like a current indie renaissance, on my SteamDeck makes it feel like the best gaming purchase I've ever made.
ОтветитьThe white one is so beautiful.
ОтветитьI got my Steam Deck a while before an unexpected vesicle surgery, and it really saved my life during recovery. I mostly played emulated PS2 games then, and the battery stuck for some solid hours before needing to plug in the charger (I had a socket right behind my bed, but still, it kinda limited my position while charging). What an amazing system! Even though it was expensive, the countless hours I've put into it in the past year has already made it my best purchase in a decade!
ОтветитьI just get my steam deck last month 😊
ОтветитьI love my Steam Deck.
I use it for everything.
Deck Dude: dude just get a deck, a steam deck ✌️
ОтветитьI have a steam deck and a Rog ally X. I tend to use the Rog a lot more because of the extra horsepower. Playing expedition 33 and Doom The dark ages on the Rog is such a delight!
ОтветитьDude, i did! And its awesome 😊
ОтветитьDude, not available in my region.
ОтветитьGot mine yesterday and i listen if for a pick one and hell yeah i would do again if necessary 😊 i very hyped to play my steams games again
ОтветитьIt needs to be as powerful as an M4 Macbook before I care, in other worlds switch to ARM because x86 sucks for portable.
Ответить
