So ask yourself where your historical Information came from, ….maybe Hollywood ?

Another fun fact: Saxxo was known for completely making shit up to make for a better story. Shockingly that is not a new strategy. Most notably the women and their fighting ability. Supposedly amazonian tales influenced that part.

If I remember correctly Ragnar was once on his way to avenge someone( I think it is ragnar’s grandfather who was king of norway who got killed by some other king) and during the war there was a women who’s fighting skills was so good that it caught Ragnar’s attention. Ragnar then courted her from afar and then arrived to seek her hand. Lagertha married Ragnar on the condition that Ragnar leaves his kingdom to stay with her in her kingdom. Initially Ragnar agreed but after a while, he left her kingdom for his. I think this is the only mention of her in the saga of Ragnar Lothbrok as far as i remember. English isn’t my first language so yeah.

I wouldn't have believed it if they'd tried to portray the shield maiden as all their mothers, old Ragnar had to have been rolling in it constantly, I always liked aslaug a bit more anyway

Lagertha is like a nanny, for the storyboards of the show, and she holds up well, but she really was real in history.

Easiest way to understand Vikings, The Last Kingdom and Vikings Valhalla in comparison to the novels and sagas.... 95% of the characters were actually real, but 95% of them and their stories were made up or switched around. If you love the shows, the source material will completely screw your head.

That pretty much ends up in the debate of Rollo being Bjorn's father. But yes, Lagertha as Bjorn's mother, was only for the show. Auslaugh birth them all.

it was made for the film by scenario producer. the film itself is nice as an entertainment but it does not represent the real truth about the Vikings and Ragnar.
