Disagree with #2 - global automation toggle is HUGE step back! In 9, I could have some tracks collapsed, others slightly expanded with MIDI/waveform visible but not automation; and 1-2 tracks in full view with automation. In 10, the automations are either shown or hidden, so I can't have the middle category above, i.e. tracks that have automation but it's hidden. Also, group tracks cannot be collapsed, so automation is always visible there if the global toggle is on.

Reid Stefan - excellent review. i am big on 'groups' too; allow me to give some 'against' feedback. i'd say a preponderance of reviews say it's a silly feature with some saying it's outrageous - a feature no one needs at the expense of 'real' change; lol!

i think the biggest reason to use groups is slightly different than you alluded to. monitoring. everyone should check all parts of a song and hearing say, just the snare bass and 9 different percussion instruments is big. nothing with groups within groups - NOTHING that couldn't have been done more laboriously through muting of course...

Undo-redo functionality is not something you enable like switch. You have to do a lot of lines of code to create a undo-redo history. Most of the Softwares, don't have it. You can't take away something that did not exist before. This puppet need to wake up.

Ableton has always been sweet for automation, it’s just better now. Cubase has always shit the bed (until recently but still is lacking).

just throw a pitch utility on the instrument strip and transpose it that way.. why would you move every single clip..

These upgrades are almost worth it, but honestly most of them seem like stuff that should have been in the base package from the start. Add scroll wheel zoom to the list. I've never used any program that doesn't let you use the mouse's scroll wheel + some other key like Ctrl or Alt to zoom. The clicking and dragging magnifying glass zoom is ATROCIOUS.

That last one is huge for me. I hate having to play the midi note from the start.
