How come I never see any checkpoints in any Everest climbing videos ? What’s the point of permits if there are no checkpoints? Are they just there to scare people to spending money on permits ?

Try climbing mount everest without sherpas fixing ropes from all the way bottom to the summit .. Try crossing hillary step without any ladders and ropes fixed ... Try it ! It would be a different conversation

People who climb Everest can’t wait to tell people who have no idea what it’s really like. They don’t tell you about the porters, animals, sherpas, supplies, oxygen, ladders, ropes, meals, medical care, facilities and assistance.

Top part of K2 is nearly vertical wall, plus horrible weather and alot of other issues. It can be climbed by elite climbers. No casual any place there.
