you got to try the nike design with the "hook" turned inwards, the wind grabs it like hell and ther is not alot of added drag

Cool for a proof of concept in low winds. I built one of these a few years back as a proof of concept. It was built a little stronger than this one and had a chain driven generator. The thing spun like crazy, it was scary fast, and it didn't take long before the main bearing failed and it came crashing down. Even though it didn't last long it proved that the concept worked and self started under load. What did you do to stop the blades from twisting? These h-rotors are prone to blade twist, that is why you see the helical shaped ones, the reduce the twisting force on the blades. Definitely a fun hobby.
