as a chicagoan, thanks for this vid
ОтветитьVery cool showcase.
Ответить"streetcar origins" my brother in christ the L was not based on streetcars and the streetcars we had here were FAR larger than L cars
ОтветитьAnnoying trend in North American transit: Using colors instead of letters or numbers for route references.
ОтветитьI love the arquitecture of the L. The loop always blows my mind
ОтветитьTo find the abandoned infrastructure in those POVs, turn on captions
ОтветитьCover Grenoble next please!!
ОтветитьI 100% agree that the brown line from the loop should be extended to serve Streeterville and to the blue line along I90.
It cannot be stressed how much Chicago needs an orbital North/South route that serves the Western neighborhoods. It is brutal to have to go downtown to just go a few miles north or south coming from the West.
As a Chicago resident and frequent passenger of the el, thanks for this. Another point is that because of the elevated nature of much of the system, one can argue that Chicago has a very large bridge, possibly the largest in the North America (note to bridge nerds).

ОтветитьIt's our Rapid Transit system that's the pride of my city, Chicago. 🚇
ОтветитьChicago itself is one big 'L'
Ответить😢 Could you possibly narrate your video faster so nobody can understand what you are saying?
ОтветитьThe thing that sells the MTA for me over Chicago is its versatility. When visiting NYC, i can get within mere blocks of literally anywhere I've ever wanted to go by only taking subways, no buses or taxis or uber. In fact, I've never been on any of those, only commuter rail and subways.
CTA is very limited in where it can take you. When visiting Chicago recently, I found that I had to walk FAR distances to get pretty much anywhere I wanted. The L doesn't even connect to Union Station, you have to walk several blocks across the river to get to it. If the CTA was more versatile, I would've liked it better. For what they do have though, it's a good and interesting service.

ОтветитьAll they need to know is the differences between CTA Chicago and particularly the Metra Antioch. The twin of Antioch. There are no buses. No means of transportation. A limited Taxi service that’ll kick you off. If you don’t have a car, you have to go to Ada. Because it’s disabled. They need to know that.

ОтветитьI cant express enough how much I love the look of the L train

ОтветитьI live in Uptown, patiently waiting for the elevators at the Argyle station. Lifelong Chi Town gal, but have never been on the Metra. However, I rode the Northwestern line as a child decades ago with grandma.
ОтветитьThe CTA should extend the Green Line back to 63rd & Stony Island & build a bus terminal there for the SE side.
Ответить😭Everyone who looks at the L asks "why is there no circle line?", and every time I cry, because the CTA did a study on it, but never actually did anything. The lack of a circle line connecting Red, Brown, and Purple to the Blue line without forcing you to go into the loop sucks so bad, man. Going from the north side to O'Hare is HORRIBLE, it takes like 1h30, and a circle line would massively cut down that travel time.
Edit: and thinking about it more, a bigger circle connecting the south portions of the Red, Orange and Green lines to the O'Hare-bound corridor of the Blue would ALSO be amazing.
Chicago is in dire need of a ring line, it sucks to have to go in and out of the loop to get anywhere.
ОтветитьNew to the channel: Excellent content. I have family in Chicago and riding the L is always a treat.
Have you visited Montreal? Amazing transit system and they are pouring more money into it to make it better.
I felt intrigued by the Chicago train system after watching The Bear, would you make one about the Metro in Porto, Portugal.?
ОтветитьAs someone from 166th street, my life would change if the redline expanded down to here
