I just adore Fred Allen, and I totally adore you too Teddy! Thank you!

Thanks for compiling so many great Fred Allen moments! There was one question that made me cringe, but most of these were classic!

“John, can I ask you a question ? “ — great running gag.

Fred was okay sometimes, but he was rude occasionally.

This is awesome. Can we have one of Bennett Cerf?

What does she have to do with hogs? “Does she raise them?” No. “Does she associate with them?” Excellent.

I'm fascinated with Fred Allen. Very intelligent and quick-witted he was. Very much a man of his time too, so some of his material hasn't aged too well. There's one moment on the show that wasn't part of this very good compilation that is one of my favorites:
Dorothy: Could we have the definition of a professional man again?
Fred: Yes, a man who is employed.

Fred Allen is hilarious. That he's so deadpan & dry in his delivery has often made me wonder if a lot of people simply don't get his humor.

Sadly Fred Allen would drop dead from a heart attack on St Patrick's Day 1956 while taking a walk a few blocks and where this is recorded in NYC...

One of the funniest men who ever lived.

He as the best panelist ever! Never pretentious and bad-natured. Always kind and funny.

"If words were automobiles, your mouth would be the Lincoln Tunnel?". BOOM!

I LOVE THIS SHOW. IT IS INTELLIGENT COMEDY AWESOME SHOW. I MISS THIS INTELLIGENCE TODAY. MR. FRED ALLEN WAS EXCELLENT AS EVERYONE ELSE IS ON THIS GREAT SHOW.

Teddy, if I ever get some time, I'm going to find my old ventriloquist dummy ang give him a Fred Allen persona.

Fred was my grandfather's first cousin. Sadly, neither he, nor his brother had children, to then have children and give me third cousins along that line. At least we still have his appearances on these programs in the 1950s and his autobiography, Much Ado About Me.

Hilarious. This panel show was a perfect vehicle for Fred Allen.

Insensitive comments about midgets and blind people. Times were different. Nonetheless, Fred was hilarious and charming in his own inimitable way.

Alas we don't have a lot of videos of Fred Allen, but everyone seems to have loved him and in these clips it's so easy to see why. He was one really funny man.

I just adore Fred Allen. I adore him.

The heart and soul of comedy, entertaining them all in heaven, but v much missed down here.

I long for the days of the wit of Fred Allen. We shall not see them again.

Fred Allen was hysterical as was Steve Allen. I would love to have seen a conversation with Fred Allen, Steve Allen, and Bennett Cerf. It would have been witty and intelligent.

Fred was one of a kind. It's a shame he was taken from us too soon.
