Why people hate the Sequel Trilogy

I can accept Rogue One into my Star Wars canon, but anything else made by Disney I fortunately mostly have forgotten about again. It's not too late to adapt the Timothy Zahn novels into movies. I recently liked how Transformers One showed respect for the old characters from that series. I wish others would learn a lesson from that as well.

I sense a great disturbance in the force. As if millions of voices cried out and then went on with their lives.

I disagree as the decision to reboot Episode 7 with essentially the same story as 4,5,6 is where the Trilogy was built on a house of cards. While The Last Jedi is an abomination, the Trilogy would have collapsed by Episode 9 no matter they did.

JJ locked the new story into the old story so it undid everything they did in Episode 6. So they started playing catch up after that and it eventually led to the return of Palpatine.

Episode 7 should have been a new story, a new threat, and nothing that tied what happened in Episode 6. The only thing that should have been used from the Original Trilogy was Han, Luke and Leia in ceremonial roles while their offspring was fighting the new War.

Heck, if they developed 3-4 Skywalker/Solo kids in 7,8,9, they could have easily gone right into 10,11,12. It will go down as one of the most mismanaged franchises in the history of cinema.

Uh, cause it sucks! And really has No connectivity to original Star Wars. Didn’t help the it is 1000% contrary to the EU.

The Sequel Trilogy failed on many levels! It treated the legacy characters like shit! Episode 7 was blah! It was simply A New Hope repackaged! The New Order was blah! There was nothing NEW about the sequel trilogy, really no new planets, no new ships! It just recycled old everything! Rey was not a good character! Finn was wasted! Poe was unnecessary! I watched the sequel trilogy once, and I will NEVER watch it again!!

I've never met anyone in real life who likes the sequals. The best Ive heard is apathy, most people dont care about them at all. Also, saying you don't care about what happened to Luke in TLJ... That's just ridiculous.

Because the story was half a$$ed, nobody thought it out from beginning to end luke Lucas did. They tried to insert thier own political agenda etc etc, to name a few.

I really do not like the sequel trilogy. It had no overall plan and the fact of the matter is it bastardised all the previous heroes and all the previous events just to suit this new group.

If they wanted to do a sequel trilogy perhaps it would’ve been better if it was roughly 200 years in the future future.

I only really dislike episode 9. I thought 7 was a fun reintroduction while effectively setting up Rey, Finn, Poe and Kylo as characters. Sure, it covered some of the same plot beats of 4 but I like 4 so I didn't care that it wasn't exactly new. 8 did some interesting things that I did not expect and I liked the ideas and themes it tried to introduce. Sure some of its humor didn't quite work for me but I still had fun. 9 completely ruined it by pretending 8 didn't happen and trying to mash two movies worth of stuff into a single movie. Abrams is a terrible writer who should have never been allowed to work on 9.

But what really ruined it for me was the discourse. The endless whining of people who refuse to accept that the old cannon is gone and that this is a new thing. Who whine when Star Wars does something new and then whine even more when it reuses plot points from the original trilogy. Who scream like toddlers about it being woke because there are more women and non white actors in the movies. Nothing it does is ever good for the most inane and dishonest reasons imaginable.

Seriously, no one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans.

The sequel trilogy already aged better than most of the Disney+ shows. The Acolyte alone makes it look like the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

At least with the prequels George at least TRIED to tell a story.

Personally I have tried. But I always get bored or literally fall asleep.

In contrast the other 6 movies. I see them every few years. And rogue one. None of the others are re-watchable

The best part of The Force Awakens is still the trailer. TLJ and Rise of Palpatine are dead to me. John Boyega was robbed.

Because the Force Awakens was a reboot of a New Hope and not a Sequel to Return of the Jedi.

I have yet to meet someone IRL that even remotely likes the sequel trilogy. The best I came come up with is Trekkies that love it that they are so bad.
