After the Fact: Flash Sentry

It amazes me how just a couple moments with Sunset in Legend of Everfree fleshed him out more than anything else in the previous THREE movies. Just have him interact with more characters and his personality will come out. But as he only appeared as a Twilight-magnet, he never got the chance to show who he is.

That end was sooo mean! I can't stop laughing! I like Flash for Twilight but I agree that he didn't have a decent character development. It was like Troy Bolton from HSM and even he had some evolve during the sequel. I feel like he was a wasted character with lots of potential. Maybe even given him some protagonism.

Between you and me, I always fantasized with an episode in wich we (and Twilight, of course) get to know him better. In his pony form. I don't really have an opinion about the human Flash dating Sunset Shimmer.

Also, I had this fantasy episode where the brothers of the mane 6 (Shining Armor, BigMac, Spike) and Flash went to this exotic friendship quest from the Cutie Map or whatever is called. So there's protagonism for the male beloved characters.

But well, now there is Hitch. Who I feel that maybe he is related to Fluttershy, because animals love him. Maybe the development we never get to see in Flash, will be with this new male protagonist pony.

By the way. Great analysis!

I like Flash Sentry. And I feel if he had more support from the fans, we could have had more opportunities for development, both in the character, and in the relationship. It's a shame that MLP FIM wasted so many chances to use and develop the male characters of the series, and I feel that Flash Sentry had a better chance than most.

As a new Brony fan who just joined the Gen 4 brony fandom, I never EVER understood why there was so much hate towards Flash Sentry and what he said or did that caused whatever hysteria or possible character assassinations on him. Thank you so much for explaining why. :)

Watched this seven years ago and I’m backkkkk I really liked his character on the standpoint of future potential - a nice, decent guy who’s willing to help those he doesn’t fully know well, has past history with a former bad guy that is mostly unknown even now, is into rock and music while his pony counterpart is a royal guard? Dude, I wanted to see that love story with Twilight and how it would have developed his character. Loved him then, love him now.

Here is a little trick on how we can all learn to appreciate Flash "Brad" Sentry a little more, anytime he shows up onscreen mentally replace him with a cardboard cutout with the words Your OC Here written on it.

It's disappointing how often a character gets dismissed even when an audience gets minimal information about them. This guy, for instance, only needed to appear in the trailer for fans to cite him as "the worst ever". And I've never been fond of kneejerk reactions like that 😟

I actually like pony Flash more than human Flash. But guess what ? Hasbro f#### up and threw him away. The amount of potentials, the amount of good story that they can make out of pony Flash is insane. He's literally a Royal Guard, a soldier serving the nation, a much more interesting concept than a high school student.

Imagine Flash trained under Shining Armor, conducting operations with him and even have a father-son/ teacher-student relationship between them, just like Price and Macmillan in the Modern Warfare series. Now I know you might be thinking "this is a show concentrated about the 6 main characters and their friends, not the Royal Guards". Well how about a spin-off show ? Same universe, same timeline, just shift the concentrated characters into Flash and other Royal Guard ponies.

That would make his character so much more interesting and much more meaningful than just a love interest.

Call me immature but I'm still, to this day, frustrated that flash and twilight never progressed as a couple. Heck, they never even interacted properly. And even in Equestria Girls-Legend of Everfree, they gave Sci-Twi a new love interest for no reason.

I think the thing people hate about Flash Sentry is that in EQG 1 he was “just there to be a love interest”.

Here’s why I like this dude:
-He’s good looking
-He looks like a rocker boy (which I’m sure most girls love)
-He plays guitar
-He has a sports car
-His haircut reminds me of Sonic the Hedgehog

I think my reason is because I like the sunset shimmer and Twilight ship better

What's the biggest flash is basically if you forgot about her and they had no interaction in the last part they didn't have a kid they just lost entrance

I like Twilight sparkles with Sunshine Simba because I had more interactions and they're closer The Flash know that

Flash actually was sen again when he got off the train before Cadence in threes a crowd but given how Twilight didn't bat an eye at him he couldn't be with her because that would have drastically changed her character and the decision was obviously made to keep her a virgin dork. .

What the sigma

On surface value from what we’ve seen of him, he makes a terrible partner for Twilight. He’s nothing more than the attractive boy in a band stereotype with hardly a character beyond that. That in itself brings no chemistry between them aside from Twilight crushing on him because of his looks. It doesn’t really go anywhere beyond that for good reason. Because he was a crush and nothing more. Even Twilight forgot about him.
