Not you expressing everything I’ve been feeling about art for the past few months
The markers look really pleasant to use and I will definitely be checking them out once my next paycheck comes in!!
I think I've said before, but it's kinda helpful and weirdly comforting to know that even artists with some level of accomplishment (like putting out a webcomic that is consistently amazing) have issues like this. Like, I used to draw a bit in high school, superheroes mostly, and I never really got past the 'terrible anatomy' stage before I put it aside to focus on study, and then work (and, admittedly, video games). I think part of it was that I didn't consider myself an artist, more just a writer, so it wasn't so important to me to keep practicing the art then. I regret that now, but when I try to make myself learn to draw there's this mix of feelings that keeps getting in the way.... stuff like "nothing looks how I want", "i should be working on story stuff (character designs, etc.) instead of doodling basic shapes" (and the inverse "I wish I could be drawing right now" when at my day job... but when I have that moment to do so, nothing comes), "I don't know what I'm doing", "I have no (good) idea"... which then merges into "this isn't fun... so maybe I shouldn't be doing it if it's not fun". All of which makes it hard to even pick up a pencil, or even think about filling a sketchbook page, let alone a whole sketchbook...
So it's kinda... not 'nice', exactly, but... knowing that an Actual Artist has times when drawing just is 'not fun'... makes it seem a little less worrying. You can actually draw, and you still have that feeling.
So, thanks for sharing, and I hope the "drawing for fun for work" thing works out.
I (a traditional artist) think that digital art is harder and confusing and I applaud anyone who can use digital art as successfully as they can. Whenever I try to use my iPad to draw it always look like if the one eyed alien from lilo and stitch had a baby with Mike wazowski. So props to you to be able to draw on a tablet cause that’s really hard
ОтветитьI've been learning to art for almost a year. Getting a tablet was what I needed to start, so I literally never drew before thst in my life. But since then I found I enjoy drawing physically a lot more lol. Atm I do some combo of both. But I love ohuhus. I use a mix of ohuhus and copic, but it's cheaper to ship ohuhus from their Asian warehouse to aus than it is to buy copics locally.
ОтветитьI'm glad you're feeling better! <3
ОтветитьI’m a trad artist and I sometimes struggle with digital art 😂
Ответитьyou remind me of Kyoko from PMMM (in a really great way)
ОтветитьSome of your art reminds me of school bus graveyard is a webtoon
Ответитьlove to see someone else calls them "cop-ic" instead of "cope-ic"
im sure im saying it wrong, considering how many people say the latter, but its cool to hear i aint alone ( ^-^)
love your videos, star! i dont think ive commented on this account, but ive been subbed for awhile on my other. always awesome to see you've uploaded! thanks for being cool, be sure to take care of yourself 🩵
I’m someone who started as a traditional artist and then I went to digital art as well.
ОтветитьSTAR have you ever heard of goodtimeswithscar? because the second I saw frankie I was like SCAAAAR! (although Frankie doesn't get lost XD)
ОтветитьThose sketches look so pretty! You're style translate well into traditional. I'm doing my best to practice on digital so wish me luck!
Again, it was fun seeing you at Momocon. I'll spare you the re-post and just say ...
Sorry for accidently making you lose the bet on Day Zero that day at Momocon.
Here is a thing you could try (if it helps and/or ur comfortable with it) draw what sounds fun to draw as a work project, and put it on a community post or something, throw it in as something that appears on your comic or do it so you can have something new to look at as a background for your computer, as a motivational art piece to help you create stuff in the future, idk it’s just an idea you don’t HAVE to listen to me, I’m just some rando on the internet
Just have fun man 🤷♀️
okay its driving me crazy i recognize the background music but cant place it???
ОтветитьI LOVE your art style, it’s the perfect mix of cartoony and realistic, and the png you use in all your videos is THE CUTEST THING.
ОтветитьWhat program do you use to draw?
ОтветитьI tried learning to draw becasue I saw a short 4 page Helldivers comic and it re-lit my passion for drawing that was (un-benounced to me) always in the background in my middleschool art classes. And after 2 months I fell into the mindset off "I'll do it later, I will still have the motivation then." or "Eh there is time for this later, there is still plenty of time in the day" and then poof all of it was gone, but now after watching this, its kicked me back into gear and I dont to stop this time no matter what.
Ответитьlove the art❤
Ответитьi started art by drawing scribbles and calling them rollercoasters on paper. and i can confirm, digital art is still art. i find coloring easier on digital, but the lineart i find paper better. 👍
ОтветитьAs a traditional artist. Here’s some tips, 1:you can smudge the pencil lines,it makes a shade like use. 2:this tip like thing will show how to use traditional art and digital art together. You can first put out the sketch then take a picture with whatever electronic devise you use. Then you can trace your art! (Should I do anymore tips in the future?)
ОтветитьBro we're all suffering from late stage capitalism. How bout we go to China- no wait they've liberalised their economy.. so has vietnam... north korea's definitely a no go.. 😮💨 I wish we could draw to make people happy and not draw to earn a buck and some food on our table...
ОтветитьDigital art is just as difficult as traditional in my opinion. I’ve done mostly traditional art for a good while and recently (past couple years) got back into digital and all the stuff knew backing highschool just left me so I gotta relearn it all.
ОтветитьIm a traditional artist and i swear to god when a digital artist tries paper art i cant help but cackle
Ответитьid love if i could get a hold of that traumatized bayleaf
ОтветитьHey, I know you probably will not see this.. but I want you to know that I would love to see your little doodles for fun, you should draw whenever you want! I understand what you mean, though. Maybe that might help your fire return? Or trying to draw more traditional artwork like this, like "drawing for fun for work" like you're saying could really help. I may not have been watching you for very long, but your artwork is really cute and pretty, and I know I'll use some for inspiration!
ОтветитьI always found it strange how guilty we feel when we go into digital art. I don’t know about anyone else but I always felt that lingering guilt feeling like I betrayed the traditional art 🤷🏼♀️
ОтветитьThis made me cry what the heck
ОтветитьJust wanted to say that I love the recommendation you made!, im a few pages in and I am absolutely loving it :D
ОтветитьSo cool ❤
Ответитьthank you for talking and being vulnerable in this video. recently i put down drawing for a while because i thought i wouldn't have time in college, but you always remind me how much i love to draw and how much i love making art even though i'm quite bad at it haha! as always you are such an inspiration <3
ОтветитьFuck Someguy69 the homies hate Someguy69.
ОтветитьThe way this gave me so much encouragement to get back into the hobby of drawing again. Thank you Star
ОтветитьSo I really like drawing but I would really like to know how you found your artstyle :D
ОтветитьMy oc’s name is Paleaf.
She’s a white fading to a yellow-green fox with a wisp pet, Glintleaf. There best of friends that go on adventures to defend the world of Gladewood. It’s a forest with yellow green trees, one of them, The Heart Tree holds the power of the Lunaleaf. The gem that holds the power of the trees, the breeze, the rise of the sun and the set of the Moon. Marrion, (the villain) wants the power of the gem and rule the world! Marrion is a black fox with the power of gravity and massive waves of air.
The story is called “The Secrets of Gladewood”. I hope you guys like it when i make it into a traditional comic, (for fun not to publish)
I LOVE how digital art looks but i cannot do good on digital (in my eyes i mean.)
Everything i think looks good is done traditionally and even if i trace that digitally it just looks bad somehow 🙏🙏🙏
Also all the brush tips ive used (which is like four) dry out very quickly for me :(
I think this is something I needed to hear.
ОтветитьI could feel your joy as I watched and listened to you gush over your drawings, sketchbook, and your characters. It made me so happy. As a fellow artist I could really relate to a lot of what you were talking about. It felt validating in the sense of not being the only who experiences those thoughts or feelings.
ОтветитьI resonate with this SO HARD. I've been a full time graphic designer for a few years now and while I'll argue that graphic design is a different language of art, it basically killed my private fun time of drawing for myself digitally. I'm still battling these feelings and am sitting on my webcomic. It's completely written out and at this point just needs drawn. I want that fun, ambition and fire back I had in school where I drew on anything I could get my hands on.
Ответитьhope your okay
Ответитьtraditional art is great but, it's not a show for lack of talent. digital art is powerful and has the same meaning.
To share my experiences: I didn't really do paint or sketch booking for over a decade. part of it was a lack of proper brushes and using freeware equipment. I also lived in a dark dingy apartment where my artistic skills weren't allowed to flourish and again a prompt lack of tools.
last month I discovered clip studio which has been a game changer, I actually find myself loving art so much more now!
I am so much more hopeful and finally finding my love for it. I could go for days painting!
It's important to take frequent breaks and rest. You gotta love what you do and take care of yourself.
Drawing for fun?!. for work is honestly an amazing way to do what you love and appreciate it for the sake of what it is.
it's a passion, the fire comes when you do things for fun and work can be fun too!
thank you for posting this video Star.
I adore ohuhu markers so much. Also varity is such baby and I love her.
ОтветитьI love how happy you are in this video ❤
