I got Nine Sols a few months ago and am very excited to start it. Finishing up a few games before I do though. I want to put all my time into it when I do.

This was my very first Jacob geller video, and i loved it. It was randomly recommended and I played it on a whim.

Btw I don't think 1000xresist has a ton of themes. I think it is incredibly focused at exploring the question of what should be left behind and what should be taken in regards to a trauma cycle, and it does it in an ever-growing spiral
(a family, a pseudo-family of clones (before assasination), a police state of clones after, two sapient races colliding, it is all about baggage and trauma cycle. Even Source's memories about its own source and origin. What should be burnt from the old orchard? What shuld be remembered? What about Iris's family? What about Hongkong? Earth's old society? It is a constant pondering of one question while constantly expanding scale at which the question gets asked. This is the ultimate game about how oppression is born from personal hurt
and how it leaves century-long traces, and it explores it both on individual and societal level.
And this pondering continues as pondering while the characters slowly switch from reacting to acting and then the answer is not given to the player, but is asked from them in the peak of the tention. Absolutely beautiful game.

Before I watch: I wonder if there's a mom being killed by a (sorta) daughter in this video. By a shard, perhaps?

The coming few months have some games in store that im very excited about. KCD 2, Majima's wacky woohoo pirate adventure and Monster Hunter Wilds. And after playing the demo, im also quite excited about The first berserker Khazan. Its a loot driven soulslike (or more of a Niohlike?) that feels like anime God of War.

Mouthwashing really left a mark on me, but I'm particularly happy with the inclusion of Nine Sols because it's fantastic stuff and I feel like it fell under the radar in some of the end-of-year lists like these. Good video!

You should totally play Still Wakes the Deep, it's by The Chinese room, the same game dev that made the amnesia games, and Dear Esther!

Slitterhead reminds me of Prototype and Infamous. The powers in those games always implied a lot more grizzly stuff than what we ever got to do, and this one seems to deliver on that unpromised expectation handily.

Im I the only one that gets dreamcast vibes from Slitterhead? Something about the style and execution and controls.

Slitterhead is one of my two favourite games of this year, definitely winning Giving Me Most Persistent Brainworms, I am OBSESSED with this game and I wish there was more of it, but also I wish people didn't judge it like it's supposed to be another Silent Hill or Siren game
You get a blood minigun in it, which lets you murder enemies by shooting your HP at them. This is not a survival horror

But like...the plot and characters are juicy. The final conflict having its foreshadowing in one of the bosses if you pay attention to colors of things is great

Also, the Slitterheads themselves, so many things that get twisted into the approximate shape of a mantis, but not really, and the boss transformations are just <3

Also, this is the only game I know where you can play as a fat muslim housekeeper who does kung fu. Literally nothing else like it

I do not gravitate towards shooters. I don’t really like them and I’m not good at them. That being said, god I fucking love Helldivers 2. It’s so much fun with the stratagems and voice lines and environments and my friends and I always get so hung ho about the roleplay aspect of FOR SUPER EEEEAAARRRTH
