This is so beautiful! Thank you Sara!!! :')
ОтветитьOMG Sarah So Beautiful!!! So Much Love & Respect for your Ultra Professional Messaging. Thank You for ALL of your Teaching and Lessons 💖💖💖.
ОтветитьThank you Sarah for all the videos you produce! I have this Cambria waiting to be finished on my cutting table! I haven't been able to sew for months with issues related to my sight which have been finally fixed and now I'm just waiting to be fitted for reading/SEWING glasses :) I made my Cambria in an olive sateen! So much like yours except for the fiber content and I'd recommend that fabric for this pattern as well. I didn't do the Hong Kong Seam finish in mine BUT I had fantasized about doing just that and when I saw yours I realized I should have done that despite the extra work. In my next one I would definitely do the Hong Kong finish. When I get back to finish mine I'll be able to sew along with you!
Ответитьthat is beyond gorgeous!!
ОтветитьMay i ask you which pencil/marker do you use in the video to mark the wrong sides? Thank you in advance
ОтветитьI have admired this pattern for a while Sarah 😁. I love Friday Pattern Company's patterns so much and now you have helped with the construction, I'm definitely going to make it 👌👍 ...thanks so much 💕😘
ОтветитьHong Kong or mock Hong Kong finished don't bother me at all because my customers are paying me for higher end sewing. My Irish aunts taught me to finish seams by turning it under and hand slip stitching. My Korean mother and her friends taught me to hand fell all the seams as a finish. High school taught me to sew a straight stitch at a #2 setting, then cut with linking shears. College taught me taught me all minds of ways to finish seams. I tend to do machine felling on my seams whenever possible. I do use my serger a lot for seam finishing. If the seam is to be seen by the public like this duster, I would do Hong Kong.
Ответитьfabulous sewing tutorial - clear and instructive thank you
ОтветитьAnother lovely relaxing video, made my day! I appreciate and agree with your views on pattern makers getting paid for their work. Keep the videos coming, we love them 🥰
ОтветитьI love the Cambria and made it once in a wool blend fabric with a looser weave and I think it stretched out during the making process since it was so long / heavy. But now Im pondering making it again in a lighter weight summer fabric.... maybe the second try will be better!
ОтветитьThis is beautiful-the Hong Kong seams are totally worth it the finish is so professional. Agree on the patterns, right to support those who give their time and skill to creating. Can I ask why the arms are bound first then joined- I didn’t understand this part thank you.x
ОтветитьI like this duster and the green color for me too. Not sure how it will fit my height. I'm so short😞 I like the blouse you have with it as well.
ОтветитьI loved the duster and your seam techniques. but I really love the zipper top your were wearing when modeling the duster. Is there a pattern available for that top.
ОтветитьWonderful Sara, looks great on you. I am only 5ft 1 in not sure I would suit this style. I appreciate you sharing your videos.
Ответитьlooks expensive .. I really like it
ОтветитьYou have done such a beautiful job! Well worth the effort of binding the seams. I have been thinking of making this garment and you have helped me make up my mind to do it!
ОтветитьThank you for your amazing tutorials. Is there anyway you could do a tutorial for the Vali dress from Pattern Fantastic?
ОтветитьI'm so happy that I found your channel! I love the pieces you choose and I'm going to have a beautiful self-made wardrobe with your help. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and for supporting the designers.
ОтветитьLove the way explain everything.Thank you such a beautiful duster.
ОтветитьEonni Indonesia plssss
ОтветитьLove this channel you’ve made up my mind to go for this!
ОтветитьThat is fabulous, and the Hong Kong finishes look amazing! I have to make this for me.... Thank you for showing us (and I love your nail varnish...).
ОтветитьI really appreciate that you share the size you used and what modifications if any you made. I really like how oversized and boxy everything is and I appreciate knowing if you made a larger size or not to achieve that effect.
ОтветитьLovely duster! Great video!
ОтветитьI just finished sewing this! It was not as hard as I thought it was going to be but it did take a lot of time to make. Thank you for the great tutorial!
ОтветитьLove the jacket (and your Channel) and would love to know which pattern you used for the black outfit under the jacket the your jacket. 💜
ОтветитьExcellent video!! I wish I could see a close up picture of the inside of the collar and how you finished the lapel areas. Did you serge the hems? For the collar, how did you conceal all the joining seams?
Ответить😊💋💙😋
ОтветитьI signed up for a class to make this duster but after studying the pattern I started having second thoughts: I haven't sewn in ages. Maybe I should try this at home and not embarrass myself? 😰Then I found this video and I feel much better about my ability to make it minus embarrassment. Thank you! Also - love the gesture for ironing. If only it were so easy in real life.
ОтветитьI'm excited to create this garment! My only concern is that this pattern was made for 5'5 and I am only 5'2. How do downsize?
ОтветитьGreat tutorial!! Thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьFabulous ❤️
ОтветитьSo beautiful watching you sew. I love the finish of the Hong Kong seams and will definitely try it on my next garment. Thank you
ОтветитьYour video is so helpful! Thank you. Making the duster now.
ОтветитьI always try to find a sew along video before I buy any sewing pattern just to make sure I'm not punching above my sewing skills and therefore wont end up crying in a corner. Your brilliant tuorial has convinced me I can make this so am now going to buy the pattern with new found confidence - thank you so much xx
ОтветитьAfter watching your video I have decided to "tackle" the Hong Kong seams.
ОтветитьIlove frome libya ❤❤❤
ОтветитьThank you for all your elegant and comfortable designs. The sweetest Sarah ❤️ You have a beautiful woman from Libya
ОтветитьI’m so happy to see you turning the corner of your collars by folding the seam allowance. It gives a much sharper finish and the seam allowance supports the point instead of pushing the seam allowance into a scrunched up ball inside the corner.
ОтветитьThanks, very helpful and a pleasure to watch. Your sister came out amazing 😍
ОтветитьThis tutorial was very helpful - I haven't done Hong Kong seams before and was unsure where and how to use them. My error was cutting the bias binding only one inch wide - in the future, I will cut them at least 1.5 inches. It made sewing a bit difficult but, with your help, I carried on! I decided to add binding to the bottom hems as well as I had several yards left over. Thanks so much for sharing your expertise!
ОтветитьSo inspired to try the same ❤❤! You make the visual steps so clear and seemingly simple. Turned out beautiful inside and out.
ОтветитьHuge question, I’m almost finished with this duster, but to sew the back neckline, do I sew through all three layers of fabric - attaching the back neck to the front pieces that shape the collar? And then finish the edge with bias tape or something similar? Thank you!
ОтветитьIf you're intimidated by all the Hong Kong Seams and Bias Bound Seams, you can just serge the seams and press them open. I hope you enjoy making your own and wearing this gorgeous handmade duster in this season as much as I do!
