ОтветитьReading Rainbow was LeVar Burton. That man was part of my childhood.
ОтветитьAt least you didn't tell the other teachers to renew their douches.
ОтветитьMy coffee goes to school in an OG Stanley thermos.
ОтветитьMost Stanley containers don’t spill but the ones that people have been fighting to get do however leak.
ОтветитьLaVar Burton. He was just awarded the National Arts and Humanities Award for 2024 by President Biden last month for his meritorious service through Reading Rainbow.
ОтветитьHow to be a good coworker 101 🤣😆 So true!!! Some people, y'all!!
Ответить“i said self. myself said hm?” come leroy sacajawea brown 🤣
ОтветитьI can relate to Bri as far as being a ‘stressball. For me, I sometimes turn into an internal panic ball 😳😩😭. I love Gabe’s idea of letting Bri have a 60 min session of wigging out 😂. She crack’s me up!! 😂🤣.
Love this podcast, and I’m not even a teacher 😂😂😍🥰
In elementary school (in mid 90s lol) we had a custodian named Mr. Al and he was the KINDEST. Constantly making kids laugh and if he saw you crying (and I swear he had a sixth sense about it and would pop up every time) he'd find a way to help. He had a way of stepping in if a kid was being bullied or picked on that didnt make things worse for the kid/make the bullies angrier. He was with the bus duty teacher every day to greet us and usually at the end of the day to say goodbye. If you got sick in the classroom or made some big mess he never made you feel bad or embarrassed or even looked put out having to clean it up. I can't even explain it. He was honestly the safest space in the building. I never had a grandpa growing up but I imagine he's what a good grandpa was meant to be like. I'm 36 now and realizing he's probably not here anymore makes me sad because the world needs more humans like him.

ОтветитьI love this episode!!! U did it again!!!
ОтветитьSome days they just breath and it is annoying.
ОтветитьIt's little things that I hate that they do. I get that sometimes we have off days, but when I speak, I was always taught to speak in return. I have a different mindset than most, and try to be as authentic and upbeat as possible. I get that no one does the same thing. Something that I like is the interaction I and our janitor have, which is a daily occurrence. We like to pretend that we didn't notice that the other was going to where they were. When we finally get each other's attention, we just say each other's name and laugh. The janitor loves it and once told me that those small interactions make her day.
ОтветитьOmg. Yall are amazing. I am social worker and I feel the same the way. I just need someone I can just vent to or just cry. Some days it hard as a social worker.
ОтветитьNot gone with the wind fabulous *twirl, twirl *
ОтветитьI’m not a teacher, but currently I’m subbing in a school library. And one of the teacher seems to be trying to micro manage her class visits. But on the other one of the long term teachers told me she enjoyed my read aloud choices and was super great to chat to.
ОтветитьJust saw LeVar Burton at the NAEYC annual conference 😍
ОтветитьComing from a special education preschool assistant thank you!! Some people talk to us like we are nothing
ОтветитьBeing respectful and nice custodians reminds me of a story that the actor Daniel Radcliffe mentioned in an interview once. He mentioned that when he was a child actor during a project break that he saw how terrible the adult actors were to the crew members and said it was very unpleasant resulting to him trying to be just as respectful and pleasant to the crew. It always makes me think of trying to be polite to those who are trying to their job no matter what level they are.
When it comes to the feedback, I am slowly learning when to provide feedback or be an ear for a person to rant. I heard a man once say, that his wife was ranting about a situation and told her how to fix it. Her face and response put him in his place by saying "I didn't want a resolution." At some point they made an agreement that he would ask her on certain situations during a conversation together if she just wanted to rant or ask for help so then he would be able to view the room better. Sounds like the guy was stupid, but, it was trying to figure each other out and learn.
Awww love you guys! You make me want to go back to teaching older children…almost 😂 but think I’ll stick with preschool for a while longer!
I used to have a teacher bestie in the classroom next door, and she was also my mentor, my counsellor, my encouragement, my confidante and teacher I stole most of my best ideas from!! (I supplied the coffee machine at the back of my room!) She was also known for coming into my room, fart next to my desk and leave again… no one is perfect I guess 😂😂
I listen to this whenever I do homework and I LOVE this podcast and I think that I might be able to got to the show in February ❤😄
ОтветитьMicromanaging disrespectful admin infuriates me. Also, giving directives but not following through. AND tolerating bad workers but picking at other people
ОтветитьI think I insulted the kids because I told them to stop spraying the cheap perfume and it smelled horrible and the lip gloss was an ugly shade of pink and could they at least put their name on their paper! I was having a bad day. OKAY!
ОтветитьWe use Canvas and I love it. We have had it since 2020, and it makes it so easy to post and assign every lesson. There are still teachers who don't use it, which I don't get. This is my 26th year teaching and I am the person that people ask for help with it. As on "old' teacher, I embrace the "new" technology!
ОтветитьI tell my students the following: make friends with the secretary, IT person, and custodial staff. I told them...if you are nice...they be nice back. :)
ОтветитьThank you Bri! As a substitute teacher I have had a teacher hop in and reprimand a class several times. I'll admit the class may have been a little loud but I didn't think it was too bad.
ОтветитьWhere is Tyler?? Did he leave? 😢
ОтветитьOmg!!!! I just took a vacancy for a 3rd grade class on November 1. The teacher prior had no real classroom expectations . Note this is my 9th day working with students after all the events are going on this week( Veterans Day, Ruby Bridges walk) and this teacher enter at the end of the day and had my students leave their mess on their tables/desk and go line up. I TOLD HER ,THANK YOU BUT NO THANKS , STUDENTS GO BACK TO YOUR DESK AND PUT YOUR WRITING PROJECTS NICELY AWAY, THEN STAND AT YOU DESK UNLIT EVERYONE HAD FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS.
That teacher was trying to tell me that the student have to leave on time. I replied, then it shouldn't take them long to clean their mess. Then I announced in the room that, My classroom is going to look just like I how it did when we started the day.
She stayed in my room until all the tasks were completed. ( p.s. do not walk in the room and disrespect that teachers' procedures. Point, Blank, Period.
Y'all, I needed this after this week!
ОтветитьPetition to get Mr jay back on the pod
ОтветитьI am here for an episode of Ms. Richardson venting
ОтветитьIf only my teachers were this encouraging and nice
ОтветитьHey so quick question I recently had my high school Geometry teacher cry in class and then continue not to talk to the class for half an hour. So I naturally when I got home to let my parents know what had happened and they wanted to talk to her at parent teacher conferences to make sure that everything was okay in class and I was getting the best education possible. She then proceeded to tell me to not let my parents know what was happening and not to tell admin. While all of this she continued to tell us she didn’t get paid enough and that this was the worst time of her life(this isn’t the first year this has happened). I eventually went and told our vice principal about it because I was no longer comfortable. Was I in the wrong? Love you guys so much!!😄
