This castle was a failure. Good intention, but complete failure

Tatsuoka Castle is Japan’s first star fort. Built during a period of great transition, it was quickly decommissioned one year after becoming operational. What is most intriguing, the castle was a tactical failure, with shallow moats, short walls and corned in a valley, it is hard to interpret the castles’ true function.

Follow me as I cycle through the country side in search of this forgotten time piece. The country side of Japan is remarkable, and on a sunny day, it is easy to lose track of time.
