Starrcade 97 was the beginning of the end for WCW. All they had to do was have Sting destroy Hogan and win decisively and cleanly. Hogan been Hogan 'That doesn't work for me brother' changed the finish. And it took how many years for Bischoff to finally admit Hogan used his creative control

Watching the end of WCW is like what it must have been like to watch a dinosaur fall into one of the La Brea Tar Pits.

I think the Hart WCW misuse thing is overblow. Hart did plenty in that run.

The worst of all of this was allowing Vince Russo to have two entire years where he utterly destroyed the credibility of the entire company... after killing Owen Hart, of course.

I don’t remember Hogan turning face the night of the Fingerpoke of Doom. Nash and the Wolfpack were faces, Hogan and nWo Hollywood were heels. Nash said he didn’t know that Scott Hall was going to interfere in his match with Goldberg at Starcade and offered Goldberg a rematch the following week on nitro. The finger poke of doom happened the following week, not the night after Starrcade. Elizabeth claimed Goldberg was stalking her, and Goldberg got hauled off to the police station. Hogan showed up and Nash said that if Goldberg wasn’t back in time for their match, he would defend against Hogan instead. The finger poke showed that Nash was still a heel and that the Wolfpack was in on it.

Wwf gave us LOD vs DEMOLITION, an alright pay off....WCW was wise to not try Renegade vs Warrior

I was forced to watch the finger poke of doom due to a step brother who loved wheel chair wrestling and hated wwe and I wanted to see mankind win the belt but nope I see the first nail in the coffin of wcw.

I cannot believe a video about the worst of WCW made no mention of Vince Russo putting the world championship on himself! That was way worse than putting that belt on David Arquette.

In my opinion, many old WWF/WWE stars that jumped to WCW got old even their auras that showed in their gimmicks not giving chances to younger stars to shine (Billy Kidman, Eddy Guerrero, Rey Mysterio Jr. , Chris Jericho and etc.) which they were given much chances to shine when they jump to WWE long before the demise of WCW. Those given chances were with formulaic gimmicks that tried to imitate the old and new WWF/WWE (Goldberg- Stone Cold, The Giant- Andre The Giant, Mark Jindrak, the next Paul Orndorff and etc.). There are also ridiculous gimmicks introduced in both WCW and WWF/WWE but WCW run with it longer and when WWF/WWE realized that the gimmick did not work then the scrap it immediately.

Scott Hall has gotta be one of the biggest tragedies in wrestling history. Back in the 90's, being the child of an alcoholic myself, I knew he had a problem and what was happening wasn't staged. At the time, I had no idea of the trauma he had been carrying around his entire life. I only learned about it after watching Dark Side of the Ring. RIP Bad Guy. We miss you terribly.

Kiss Demon was I think Brian Adams (Crush) in the first appearance. The rumors were that the character was immediately scrapped except for already contracted matches which they just tossed onto a jobber and let Crush off the hook.

Everyone knew that and so anything the new guy did wouldn't help him any.

Goldberg was boring. all his matches were boring. every match Goldberg was in (except ppv) was a squash. he does like 2 moves and it's over. just like the Great...the AWFUL Kali. and here i thought the in ring fight was actually telling a story but nope. best example, Bret Hart vs Rowdy Piper. we saw Piper, who was the current IC champ and was to drop the belt to the new rising star, Bret Hart, in just 1 match, saw Piper go from being a face, to a heel, to a a**hole cheater, then redeemed himself and lost with dignity. great story telling through kayfabe violence. i rather watch a bra and panties match on WWF than any main event on WCW during their dying days. especially when WCW started having ninjas attacking every week, no seriously, ninjas attacking in the back locker room and office, it was awful.

The WCW World title doesn’t carry the lineage of the NWA World title (re: David Arquette winning the belt). WCW was a member of the NWA and branched their title off from it. The NWA and WCW shared the same world champion, Ric Flair, until he left in 1991. The titles split after that. WCW made Luger champion, while the NWA still recognized Flair until he joined the WWF. The title was won the following year by Masahiro Chono in a tournament hosted by New Japan Pro Wrestling with involvement from WCW, and the WCW and NWA champions wrestled on the same shows until WCW withdrew as a member of the NWA in 1993.

intentionally misleading----WCW did not have lineage tracing back to 1905. the national wrestling association and the national wrestling alliance were two different things.

Rik flair has always been terrible. His mic skills are shocking with every other word wooo.. the guy wasn't that great in ring either. People who say he is one of the GOATS need to re think their life.

3 things to make a successful wrestling company:

1. Don't have Bischoff, Russo, and the NWO in the same company

2. Don't make a celebrity a Champion

3. Don't turn Goldberg heel

ok so if youre gonna do a critique of something its best to get the facts straight... Hogan was NOT a babyface at any point during the finger poke, Nash was... and it happened two weeks after Starrcade, not the next night... and the angle actually worked despite what WWE would try and tell you, Nitro ratings were still in the high 4s and low 5s all the way up until mid March and then fans started tuning out because they didn't follow the storyline to its proper finish which SHOLD HAVE BEEN Goldberg running through the faction over a couple of months en route to dethroning Hogan for the belt once again... so again, despite what WWE would try and fee you, if you were actually there watching during this time then you'd know the Poke of Doom simply was not the promotion ender they'd like to have you believe... the few months after it were.
