This whole situation is so sad, I feel so horrible for the survivors of this, I can’t imagine the survivors guilt they feel, and the ptsd they must deal with. I feel so horrible for the victims families, such innocent lives, these children are about my age I was ten when this happened. Rip.

USA is a horrible country. You failed to protect these children and then failed to protect their families. How come these people spreading this fake news were not arrested? Freedom of speech is an excuse you use to commit horrible crimes. And this bizarre adoration of guns. You love guns more than people's lives. You prefer to see thousands of innocents dying than to take action to prohibit things that only serve to kill. A grown man who is so cowardly to the point of kill small children cornered in a bathroom has no way to be helped. What you need is to prevent the means that these people have to do this. Why do you allow online school massacre worship groups? Not to mention the absurdity that is home schooling. And unfortunately, for the rest of the world, we have to live with you crazed clowns who own a lot of guns.

The more i learn about this one the more i blame his mom for the massacre than him. So many red flags ignored for so many years, refusing professional advice and giving his easy access to firearms. She's just has guilty as he is.

The most infuriating thing about a good portion of most of these monumental shootings is the years of red flags that are ignored. So many chances to intervene missed.

He definitely made connections between the chimp and himself, but the main issue was that the chimp didnt know the repercussions to his actions, but a human does. A chimp doesnt need weapons to attack but a human does. Hence weapons access is a problem and so are chimps. The weapons providers and chimp owners need to be held accountable for such damages.

Dr king was so insightful and is a lesson when dealing with a child that is uncomfortable in their environment to help them adapt to the world rather than creating a prosthetic environment with reclusiveness that leads to grave consequences

Jesus. I feel bad for Lanza. He had been suffering for too long. I can’t condone what he did to those kids (why would I ever?) but I feel sorry for Adam. It’s sad and terrible how one can put his/her own suffering on others with murder. Also, I can’t imagine what he was going through each day.

On the potential motive(s) - I dated someone with severe OCD and other mental health issues (and very likely at least one personality disorder) for almost 2 years, during which he was mostly verbally and emotionally aggressive toward me, but was hiding his diagnosis, anger/emotional regulation issues and other mental health issues from other people pretty well. He was seeing a therapist once a month but I honestly doubt he was being very truthful about his symptoms and behavior, and he was very resentful toward his therapist for trying to put him through treatment (although he chose to seek professional help).

With his comorbidities, it is hard for me to know exactly what part of the things he said were actually true because he was often out of touch with reality with paranoia that everyone out to get him, but sometimes, he told me he was suicidal. Very often, he would express how he wanted to physically hurt others for inconveniencing him, which I believe had much to do with his OCD - his need to control things/people to avoid imagined/perceived consequences (e.g., he would yell at me for blinking my eyes in a certain way - too fast, too many times? I have no idea). Either way, it seemed like he had a lot of aggression directed inwardly and outwardly. The only reason he wasn't acting on these thoughts seemed like he had something to lose (e.g., his job, reputation, freedom). I sometimes think he might do something horrible with his firearms when he has lost reason not to act.

His upbringing seems very similar to Lanza's - with his mom coddling him and making accommodations to avoid either his discomfort or his anger toward her, which I can sympathize with. But I believe her leniency contributed to his personality traits, where he is highly self-centered and lacks empathy or respect for other people's rights.

So, I'm just speculating here - maybe Lanza simply 'snapped' after living with so much fear and whatever instruive thoughts for years and years. Also, I've been in social services before and been physically assaulted by a schizoprenic patient with acute symptoms when he thought he was in solitary confinement and had to attack me to get away from the situation. If Lanza was having paranoia like that, it might have driven him to hurt others.
