I have a fringe tree too and it is beautiful in the spring especially. Did you know that besides the ash tree fringe tree is a host of the emerald ash borer. Don’t know if you have those in your area or not.
ОтветитьThe bed extension looks so good <3
ОтветитьSo excited for your garden and looking forward to your next plant selection. And I learned something new once again - about the rootslayer shovel. What an awesome tool! Thank you for sharing your gardening adventures.
ОтветитьNice job! Thanks for sharing your thought process in designing this area. Really interested in the seven sons shrub!
ОтветитьLove that side yard. George did a great job with the design. Ok Steph, you might remember I told you my husband and I were moving a Japanese maple to another location of our yard but didn't get much rootball. You had replied to give it some time. It seemed ok at first but today I see every leaf has now curled up and are dry and crunchy! Do you think I should just wait for Spring and see if it comes back? Thank you.
ОтветитьWhat a beautiful addition to your yard!
ОтветитьEverything looks beautiful ❤
ОтветитьSteph love when you show a makeover of a space in your garden. Can't wait to see how this space evolves.
ОтветитьThat looks amazing!! I am astounded by how many projects you 2 have completed this year! And I will never, ever, second guess anything that you do because everything that you touch turns out just so beautifully!!
ОтветитьLooks so nice! I’m working on a hillside garden as well.
ОтветитьLoving the look of this mixed border! You’re giving me some inspiration! Looking forward to watching it evolve.
ОтветитьAs far as I’m concerned if you need to use landscape fabric people shouldn’t shame people that use it we all know the pros and cons of using it and in some places it’s necessary. I use it sparingly but I also have noxious weeds so oh well. The next owners of our property can choose to keep it or remove it. We also have a spot in our yard that’s IMPOSSIBLE to mow so guess what it has landscape fabric and mulch and a few shrubs. 🤗🎃🍁💚🙃
ОтветитьYou make this job look sooo easy. But I know it isn't. Great job. I too have a hill and it's a tough area to landscape. Thanks for the inspiration.
ОтветитьHi Steph. maybe you don’t need to move that hydrangea behind the umbrella pine bc there is plenty of room for it to grow more back into the slope. you could just prune it hard in the front and leave most branches in the back. might work for quite a few years anyway. just a thought as it’s well established. :D
ОтветитьWhat a great job Steph and George!!! Love the new bed. Can't wait til new spring to see how is grows.♥♥♥
ОтветитьThank you Steph and George. It will be fun to watch the progress of your new garden bed ! 🎃🍁💚🙃
ОтветитьThat looks AMAZING! I am in love with the Blue Spruce 😍 it really pops in front of all the green, great choice! Thank you for sharing this with us. Excited to watch it progress over time. 😊
ОтветитьWhite fringetrees are so underutilized. Such a beautiful native species. I'm glad you're trying one out there.
ОтветитьLooking really nice!
ОтветитьWe do the hose thing too. I’ve found that I like longer curves as opposed to many smaller ones. I think it’s easier on the eye. You are one of my favorite garden gurus 😊. I love that George is so into the garden like you.
ОтветитьYour knowledge of shrubs and trees is inspiring!
ОтветитьLooks good Steph!
ОтветитьThat looks awesome Steph. You and George did a great job and I love all the plants you planted. Looking forward to seeing it progress. ❤❤❤
Ответитьloved the video, the garden looks beautiful and the shrubs you picked are going to be amazing .thank you and george for sharing it with us. hope you have a great week!
ОтветитьWow !!! It looks great 🤩 Erin was just showing her mom and dads Fringe tree on her last video 🤩 The Seven Sons tree also 🤩 Great choices !!! 😜
ОтветитьWow! You guys made that look easy and how beautiful it turned out!
ОтветитьHow fun! This is going to extend your garden so much. I see your vision. Beautiful!
ОтветитьMy Bloomerang lilac is the same. I may replace it as well.
ОтветитьGreat project Steph and George! I love that you guys have all the rocks a boulders to work with and add a lot to the landscape. Your property is beautiful at every turn😊
ОтветитьSteph and George, this is gorgeous. I have had the root slayer for a couple of years now after Jim Putnam recommended it and it has been a game changer for me.
ОтветитьThere’s purposes for landscape fabric, and if used responsibly, there’s no reason not to use it. 👍
ОтветитьThats what adain jumping worms look like , thats what i thought it was at first!
ОтветитьGreat job on the many projects! Teamwork makes the dream work 😉
The curves in your new bed extensions were the way to go, at least esthetically. However, George went to sharp on the curves, which is going to make mowing the grass even more of a pain, if not impossible, depending on mower type/size, which means the trimmer has to be used.
Your yard is beautiful. I wish i had a George. The 7 son tree is great. I have one and it is beautiful. You make good choices.
ОтветитьGreat shapes in those lines of new garden! Can’t wait to see new shrubs and trees in the spring. A satisfying full day for you two.❤❤
ОтветитьHi Steph🌺 . Wonderful project in the garden and these shrubs and trees are going to be amazing in the garden .Have a great day .🌺🌻🌺
ОтветитьHi, I wanted to let you know that chionanthus virginicus/fringe tree is a plant that the deer rub their antlers on. They rub it so hard thae bark rubs down to the whitewood. I thought it would heal over, so I didn't do anything, but the following year, they did it again!!! I had to put a wire cage around mine unfortunately. But mine is 10 years old now and thriving, but still has to have the cage till new bark grows over where they rubbed it off. They're beautiful trees though. My birds like mine, but unfortunately you have to have a male and female for fruit, and I only have 1 tree. If i could find a place that sexed their plants, I would buy a mate, but i don't have any idea if mine is m/f though.
Ответитьlove beautiful landscape you guys work well together thanks for sharing so inspiring to change add somethings to my backyard area.
ОтветитьI love the Japanese maple tree we tried few years ago planted one in front yard zone 6 it failed I was so hurt. scared to try again. I would like to plant a spruce shrub it's not to late if I plant it next weekend?
ОтветитьThis is going to be a beautiful new garden space. Look forward to watching your progress.
Ответитьyeah! root slayer is my go to shovel for everything
ОтветитьI just planted a bloomerang lilac..is it a dud then?
ОтветитьWhat a difference! Looks amazing now, so neat and tidy, so the end result will be awesome!
ОтветитьGORGEOUS additional Trees ❤Shrubs.much better😊👍 thank you both for great tips🍂🍂🍂
ОтветитьThe rootslayer is my favorite gardening tool- things are so much easier with it!
ОтветитьLove it!!!!
ОтветитьWe are working on a mixed deciduous evergreen border too —- to replace an old raggedy Arb hedge . It’s by far the hardest project we have ever taken on. We also chose Ossorio G to brighten up the space, leaning on golden metasequoia particularly for wetter areas…
ОтветитьI can clearly see why the landscape fabric was a choice. The wildness, slope and distance from the house all make sense. I am not a fan, but for your needs, it does seem perfect. I love the choice of plant life, especially the fringe tree, which I am thinking about myself. I am of a mind now that most of my beds will be deer and rabbit resistant, but mostly proof, drought tolerant and not need to be pruned down to fit the space. I’ve removed roses, lilies, hosta, and any perennials that needed to be sprayed for a variety of reasons. Love the new Japanese columnar tree. Nice to have access to a grower. That whole area will be just gorgeous over time. Much good luck with the project. Isabel the root slayer too. Heavy for me, but a great tool.
ОтветитьIts going to look fabulous! ..when I first saw the space, it looked to me like there should be a beautiful pond down there in that area! ..would look awesome.
