Truly a work of art and passion. Thanks for sharing this. I had to watch this quickly so I may have missed a few things. One thing I believe to be true with a lot of the great bands back in the 50's-60's, they didn't seem to have any monitor systems. I always found that interesting that the Doors at Hollywood Bowl for intstance, there were no stage monitors. Ok, the Beatles claimed they could never hear themselves on stage with all the screaming so I know they were such talented players. Also producers and engineers from back in the day were sooo very talented. Today too. No disrespect to today's producers and engineers meant.

why? still not a gig, not a tour, last pathetic gesture of a band who couldn't play together?

Also the Beatles never even existed…..

they were a collective hilucination the world experienced in the 60’s when the worlds water supply was laced with LSD.
😵‍💫

and I base this theory on absolutely nothing

I notice there appears to be more reflective surfaces(walls etc) on the original and that will affect the overall sound but a very comprehensive attempt at recreating the whole atmosphere of the event,9 out of 10(10 would be impossible)

Aw guys, what a terrific act of love! I just watched the whole 9-hour 'Get Back' for the second time on Disney+ with good Sony Headphones for the sonic wonder of it all. Just wonderful. It's struck me hearing this rendition right away - on the REFRAIN right from the start - you've changed the rhythm of the Beatles' loose and pure BEAUTIFUL TRIPLETS on "Don't Let Me" Down.. from 3 against 8 (which is difficult) to two groups of three eights and one group of two eights - which is not at all the pure triplet 3 against 8 even though it's easier - an easy mistake too. you sing it as: || DA da da, DA da da, DA da || DOWN........That subtle difference may have been George Martin's influence - again - the right guy with the right stuff at the right time, (though all the Beatles would feel that naturally and they all surely cooperated in it consistently in each refrain so it sure 'ain't no mistake,' whoever thought of it (John?)) It's a nit-pick difference but makes all the difference in the world - makes it more fun. 'fix that, boys. work on that.' P=] Hey - btw - my band was called Juice too: "Beatle Juice" with Brad Delp! I don't remember if we ever played "Don't Let Me Down," but I was on lead guitar and vocals from 1994 thru 2004 - long time ago! Good work here to recreate the gutsy vocals!! - Hats OFF!

Wow this was great. I have not got this deep into the weeds in music and sound since I was in my teens and 20's. that was over 45 years ago. This really woke the geeky music side of me up that was long dead or so I thought. Really enjoyed it much more then I thought I would. BTW, the band sounds great!

I went to school with Joh Lennon from the Beatelles (formerly The Beatnix) in Sudney (Bruce Coble) and I am so going to share this with him. He will get a blast.

I am, however, sorely disapointed that you did not thank everybody, on bahalf of the group and yourself, and hope that you passed the audition.

Nicely done and well presented.

This is pretty ridiculous. Obviously this was real. For instance in the song Don't Let Me Down, John Lennon forgets the words, and just ad-libs nonsense. His lips are matching what he sang. The whole thing is like that. Also, that rooftop wasn't exposed to the street sounds. So the building was acting as a wall between the roof, and the street below.

Instead of making wild, and often inaccurate guesses about the gear being used, why didn't you consult the painstakingly researched and authoritative book Recording The Beatles by Brian Kehew and Kevin Ryan? The answers to all of your questions are in there.

(I often soundcheck vocals first and people think I'm insane)

What a daft pathetic video. Theres more noise pollution today than there ever was in 1970s. It was a different time in London where traffic was minimal, air conditioning units seemed like a distant dream in the UK. The only thing the Beatles had to compete was the windy conditions and the odd air traffic. Your comparison to London back then to New York today is just sheer ridiculous and it does seem like you guys have too much time on your hands. Take heart, live and let live and let it be. Thats a thumbs down for me.

Thank you! For years, actually since the first time I ever saw the rooftop concert I was SURE that what I was seeing and what I was hearing were two different things. Beatles playing live on a rooftop being dubbed by them playing the song in the studio to avoid all those ambient sounds, the wind, street noises, etc. But now, seeing and hearing what you've done, ooh you've done, yes you done.. sorry, anyway, seeing what you have laid out here makes me completely renege my beliefs.
It's hard to believe how good the Beatles were, but honestly, they were probably better than we ever thought.

I was doing this stuff when I was 13 years old!! Sorry I do like the video and the host, don't get me wrong here. Sorry that it sounds so negative and attacking. But honestly I WAS doing this stuff at 13 years old! All this whole thing is is a live performance on a rooftop which the Beatles with the help of some roadies and techs did in a day. with time off for good behavior or rebellious behavior I'm not sure. LOL. I guess if he's (I guess I should watch the entire video first just a minute........Okay I've watched the whole thing. First (Or whatever number this is after my "boo hooing" at the start lol.) What a GREAT BAND he had on the roof!! No they can't be the Beatles no one can. But they are/were REALLY GOOD!! Kudos! As I thought he'd have to do seeing that the vintage gear would have been INSANELY expensive to try and source then almost impossible to use the way they did back then. Oh and I'm glad he didn't try to run a bunch of long extension chords up to the roof either. Working Bands in my old timers day toured with a 220V 50 or 100 Foot extension. Which tapped straight into the 220 of the house. (Bar Club etc). But as I had started saying at the beginning this was something we did in the bands I was in from the very start. Live performance with full gear then later it was with a four track recorder at live events etc. We also had to provide full front line house P.A. as well as Monitors. No not screens for the computers lol. (I still get that confused). Wedge shaped speakers pointed at the band so we could hear ourselves. Basically a full second P.A. System but for the group. Amazingly the Beatles didn't have that technology when they toured. Nope they heard SCREAMING! And All the while Ringo watched the bums of the other three in front of him to tell the cues for the songs so they could be together. And YES they sang all of their live recordings THAT WAY! INSANE I KNOW! They were truly THAT GREAT! Plus we provided the Light Show. A 30 Par can Back line with front spots and colors etc. Anyway you all get the point I think. GROUPS NEED TO COME BACK! I saw a video from a few popular YT guys talking about the fact that everyone these days is working alone in front of screens and they wonder (We all wonder) why the music isn't the same. There's no soul no Magic No INTERACTION. It's the difference between Sex alone or with your loving and adoring Spouse! (Well for the first few years anyway LOL. (Joke guys don't be angrier than you already are LOL. Have a GREAT day and THANK YOU to the Host creator of this GREAT Video! You've done a great thing. My point is about all of US in the world today not you and this video!

I have made a recording of an interview in the apoteose square in Rio during the Carnaval parade, with the live "samba school" playing very loud, I used some Sennheiser wi-fi mic from the late 1990, and (to my surprise) there was almost no music, the voice was there clear. So those 3.5k mics must be able to capture only what they want. Also, everything was remastered to the Get Back with digital technology able to clear out any undesirable noise.

It's pretty bold to emulate one of the most famous performances of one of the greatest bands of all time, yet you pulled it off and the sound was fantastic as were the performances. It's a testament to how good the Beatles and you are at doing a performance without the do overs of a studio, and how good the Beatles and your sound engineers were to at managing the mix and locals sub optimal conditions in your recording.

Heathrow is something like 20 miles away from Abbey Road Studios. The odds of an airplane flying overhead - especially in 1969 - were pretty low. Abbey Road is a couple blocks away from the nearest arterial street (Wellington) and again, traffic would've been much lighter at lunchtime, in January in 1969.

Also, the Rooftop Performance and the whole of the Abbey Road album was recorded on a SINGLE eight-track tape machine. They might have had a board with 16 inputs; but the output was to a single eight-track, 1" machine. Most of the Abbey Road album was recorded with Ringo's kit on two tracks: Kicker on One and the rest of the Kit on another. I'd imagine the rooftop performance is identical. I've never gotten a clear answer as to if there was a sync pulse on the tape; so they might have used all eight tracks for audio.

That could mean the tape is something like:
Trk 1 - Kicker
Trk 2 - Drum Kit
Trk 3 - Paul's Bass
Trk 4 - George's Guitar
Trk 5 - John's Guitar
Trk 6 - Billy's Keyboard
Trk 7 - Lead Vocal
Trk 8 - Backing Vocal

If you listen to the Glyn John's mix of "One After 909", John is in the Left Channel and Paul is on the Right. So there are at least those two discrete vocal tracks; I can only assume George's mic is mixed in with one of those since George didn't do much other than the occasional harmony vocal.

Never thought anybody questioned the validity of the Rooftop Concert before.

Loved this! One question— at the beginning of the video you were talking about the high amounts of ambient noise on the roof, and at the end you were saying that recording outside is “like a sound booth.” What made the difference? Just all the wind screens? Catching a recording between planes? Turning everything up louder than the sounds of the city?
