Thank you Gettysburg museum for putting this short documentary out here for free!
ОтветитьThe voices of history, the voice of the soldiers who served on both sides. Some who came home and many who did not.
The quote from Kohima memorial in India comes to mind.
'When You Go Home, Tell Them of Us and Say, For Your Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today. '. RIP and thank you for your service.
must of missed the ïncredible' footage!
ОтветитьAbsolutely stunning footage!! 👏🏽🔥
Ответитьthese men must be turning in their grave in modern era trumps USA
ОтветитьSuperb documentary, especially for the time. No fluff. That was a big thing back then. Just honest testimony from the men that were there. Both sides! I can't believe I've never seen or even heard of this before. Paul Newman narration is the cherry on top. Thanks so much!
ОтветитьAwesome content and collab. Need the story on the cameo at the end and reaction from FP and Bob.
ОтветитьWowza 😮
Please carry on with the next episode 🙏🏻
🇬🇧🫶🏻🇺🇸
I wonder how much footage is out there that is locked away in some archive that we will never see.
ОтветитьIs that rod serling narrating at points?
ОтветитьMy Uncle Donald Emerick was in the 84th and killed during the battle on Jan 22 and is buried at Henri=Chapelle American Cemetery in Hombourg, Belgium.
ОтветитьThe big picture. Thanks for the video.
Ответить" Nuts " probably the best response in the war
ОтветитьI keep watching this! I love the first hand accounts with actual footage! ❤❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьHistory, real truthful history, is no longer taught in school. They don’t teach what you see here. Why???
Because if they did it would mean there would be more and more patriots. Students would be proud again of the USA. They’d learn about real life, reality, not the fake Hollywood version.
great pictures and a battle that will nee should live long in American minds and hearts
ОтветитьWhat a riveting programme thank you so much
ОтветитьThis was brilliant stuff great footage really interesting and also on the 84th inf div brilliant.
ОтветитьVisited Geilenkirchen last year while following the Sherwood Rangers advance. Incredible to walk through there as well as find some "then and now" locations
ОтветитьThis is incredible footage. It drives home the hardships and horrors our troops faced
Ответитьfubar comes to mind listening to these testimonies!
Ответитьgreatest generation! ill never be able to understand how these guys did what they did!
ОтветитьThanks for showing this. I don’t remember ever seeing this documentary. I didn’t catch what year this was done, plus the fact that Paul Newman was doing the narration.
ОтветитьThank you for showing this. I remember watching The Big Picture on our black & white TV when I was a kid. Guess my love for WWII started early.
ОтветитьGreat men. A great battle and courage. Thanks for this video JD. 💯💕👊👍
ОтветитьMy dad was in the 79th infantry division. Between Aug 44 and May 45 he was hit 3 times. He missed the Bulge because he was in Paris recovering from a broken foot caused by artillery shrapnel. He always believed that wound might have saved his life. Thanks JD.
Ответитьenjoy the Bugle history!! My Grandfather Stokes Taylor was kIA at Tori’s Ponts Belgium ,12/21/44,80th ABN , AA/AT BN,82nd ABN,DSC PH!!
ОтветитьFREAKIN AWESOME, JD! Thanks for posting this.
ОтветитьThis was outstanding 😅
ОтветитьGod bless those who fought for freedom. I wonder, however, how they would feel if they knew then what America would turn out to be.
ОтветитьMy grandfather was 28th Infantry Division (Bloody Buckets) 112th Infantry Regiment and was at the bulge. He'd never really talk about it. Always makes me wonder if he's somewhere in all the old footage.
ОтветитьThat was awesome historical footage.
Ответитьgreat films JD. ive never seen any of these before so great history lesson again from you buddy!!!! thank you
ОтветитьThank you for sharing this. Tremendous group of men.
ОтветитьMy dad was there. Not sure if he fought his buddies did
ОтветитьMy uncle was there as a member of the Rail Splitters.
ОтветитьMy dad was recovering in Paris from from 5 months óf frontline combat when he got called back to the front ín December, he got lucky this time they already had it covered before he got back
ОтветитьWhat a test of one’s will. The cold alone would have been absolutely painstaking on the mind, body and soul.
ОтветитьExcellent! I had never seen any of this before. Thank you for your production.
Ответить🇺🇸⚔️🦅🫡
ОтветитьSomething that struck me; the first time I saw the series "the big picture"....is remembering how young these soldiers were. ~ In truth I shouldn't have been surprised, because It's always been like that. ~ My best friend was 18 in Mosul....and to see some of these WW2 vet's (I believe filmed 1950-1968).....Is a lot different than seeing them in interviews where they could be 77-90+ years old. (All the interviews are great, but these are cool)
ОтветитьThanks for the video. I too look for my Dad in these videos, one day I may see him. He was in the 75th division, 291st infantry, a poor depression era kid who joined the army for the money , before the start of the war. He never talked about the war until the end of his life, he was very proud of his service and the men from F company. Greatest generation is an understatement.
ОтветитьJD, thanks for the excellent work. Top tier of all the history content on YT.
ОтветитьI thought this was a Periscope Film video at at first lol.
ОтветитьGreat stuff…enjoyed that…
ОтветитьMy father in law was a ambulance driver/medic during the Battle of the Bulge. Thank you for this upload!
