What Are the Differences? Prusa MK3.5S vs MK3.9S vs MK4S

Come on Giuseppe, on Black Friday, discount the upgrade kits, there are lots of mk3s+ to upgrade!!

not sure about this
i really loved switching from my cr-10 to my mk3s back in 2019

but why would i not just get an A1 mini as a secondary printer when the upgrade is more than an a1 mini

i paid 800€ for my mk3s, i dont feel like paying 280€ for an upgrade that is only necessary because you guys still used 8bit boards with the mk3
(i dont need a color touchscreen when i could be launching prints from the web interface that the 32 bit board can provide)

if it was 200€ i might consider upgrading my mk3 over getting an a1 mini as a second printer, but 280 to upgrade a used machine seems very unattractive compared to getting a 2nd new machine for 200€, even if it is from a chinese company. I already paid 820€ for a european printer with barely enough compute performance

i have a lot of respect for what prusa as a company did for 3d printing and a give you guys any benefit of the doubt i can give, but i feel like even the cheapest mk3 upgrade is overpriced when looked at outside of its specific vacuum in the market.

there is only so much premium i can rationally pay to support a company i generally prefer to its competition

Literally just finished upgrading with MMU3, might be time to have my printer down for another 6 months 😂

I am still disappointed you dont offer a Mk2.5 upgrade kit. I know it would be a lot of upgrades, but not everyone can just afford to buy a new printer.

For the price of the MK3S/+ to MK3.9S kit I could buy a complete Bambu A1 printer which prints at least as fast, has much cheaper spare parts, has a much better user experience and has a reliably working material switcher.

Truth be told, I've only tried the MMU2S and not the MMU3, but that's been the most useless and unreliable bit of tech I've bought the last decade by far and has caused issues so many times that I just disconnected it and stopped using it after tweaking and fiddling with it for a long time. Yeah it can run reliably when using prusament and when everything is perfect, but I have had no issues at all with my a1 mini and ams system with the exact same filament...

I really like the ProosaXY core XY upgrade kit (beta). Masive performance upgrade

my MK3S just works to good to do an upgrade :D Even if I love the changes :P And buying the upgrade kit is hard, as if I pay little bit more I nearly get a complete second printer :D

please discount the kits

For the upgrade kit I can easily buy a new printer instead, just not worth it.

Only the occasional burst of fomo is hitting me.

I didnt know they got way bigger when you upgrade them, thats pretty cool.

I love my 3.5S+, but $500 for the 3.9s kit or $580 for the 4s kit are insanely priced when a BRAND NEW MK4S is $800. So PRUSA is basically telling me my MK3S+ is worth ~$220.
That, and an enclosed P1S is $550 or $750 with the AMS.

Thinking about getting a P1S and this did not help me understand the differences between these models of your printers.

I bought the original 3s+ to 4 kit but it was delayed twice. So I cancelled my order and got an X1c for just a little more (Nearly $700 for the Prusa plus shipping vs $950 for the X1C with the AMS free shipping). My 3s+ still prints great, but the X1c and my Prusa Mini with input shaping, do all the lifting these days and the MK3s+ is collecting dust. For the $679 that it would take to get my MK3S+ to MK4S I can buy two Bambu A1s and that makes a lot more sense. I am a Prusa fan, but unfortunately the math is not mathing for any of these upgrades.

For all of the money they stole this should of been a free upgrade if you mk3's never worked......like mine !!!!

I really love prusa printers but bamboo labs sells theirs at 1/4th of prusa machines.

Prusa should start to come out of their comfort zone and work hard to tap global marlet effectively. 🎉

Flip the door on the board to the outside so you don't have to work over and around the print bed and gantry

No discount will be given, the herd must be shaved of there money as much as possible. So new money can grow and be harvested later.

Prusa is that one video game that always on beta phase for years with solid gameplay & solid update. Just the price a bit expensive. What I love about prusa (i don't own one yet) is how they upgrade their old printer to use latest tech & become relevant for long term. I wish it can go global as as how as bambulab take off their printer.

Choose very wisely because they’ve provided no upgrade path from the 3.5 or 3.9 so once you do those upgrades, you’re stuck there. They don’t sell the parts to a 4s.

A little advice for those who decide to buy an upgrade, plan it wisely, very happy with my mk3.5s tbf but I didn't investigate enough and seems they won't offer an upgrade kit any time soon or at all, buying the parts gradually and update yourself doesn't seem cost efficient compared to simply buying the mk3.9-mk4

This upgrade was definitely worth it, and I couldn't be happier with the results :)

Bring back the option for crash detection. Not having crash detection really hurts reliability, so I'm stuck with printing small things where if there is a layer shift I don't lose a lot of time/filament.

I have 4 mini+’s and an mk3s+ along with a Bambu A1 and Ender3 pro. Prusa has been my favorite by far as far as reliability and longevity goes. That having been said, their prices and upgrade kits have gotten rediculous and seem to be out of touch with the current market. Unfortunately I do not see any change coming from them any time soon. A1 with the ams on blackfriday sale is the way to go. The entire printer with the AMS cost me the same as the MMU3 upgrade for the mk3s+…..

TBH, my MK3S+ cost twice as much as my FLSUN and Bambu, and the FLSUN is three times faster. The print quality’s pretty much the same, so I just can't find a good reason to upgrade. Prusa really needs to wake up and see what's going on in the market.
