I have a big problem when I play Qing, I always seem to stagnate at around the 500-600 million mark, like shit my eco just stagnates and my pop starts to explode around 1900s

Homesteading is a trap as Qing.
Strangely enough, their insane amount of aristocrats and subsistence farming means that it's better for a while to have tenant farmers + agrarianism than homesteading + laissez-faire.
Homesteading cuts too much into aristocrat reinvestment. This one is indisputable. You also don't need peasant migration, there's enough workforce in pretty much all states already. Don't do homesteading.
Agrarianism vs laissez-faire is harder to gauge, because agrarianism's buff to aristocrats is good but laissez-faire creates more capitalist jobs. Agrarianism also requires an additional early tech at a point where you already need 5 techs fast (colonisation + the stuff required for Napoleonic warfare).
So yeah, laissez-faire is probably better, but that one's a toss-up.

my strat for 2B gdp qing by 1950 is very simple. first of all ban opium because it tanks your sol then declare a diplomatic crisis on the raj peace out imediatly, you‘ll pay 40 k war reparations but get a stalemate wirh the british and they wont declare again until after 30-50 years which is managlbe with consumption taxes . then open up your industry but do not make it to fast because you‘ll run into a bitter deficit. take the army into your gouverment so you reform your army into professional to hit the influence of the landowner strata then take the army strata out of gouverment and add the farmers so you go into tenant farmers and stay there till you can get commercialzed agriculture. contstruct a bigger economy and by 1880 youll hit 200 mio gdp. with the technologies you can get healthcare and public schools snd build lots of admin buildings and universities to expand your pops qualification so their wages rise, so they can buy more stuff. with this game cycle youll hit 2B like me at around 1950

why use wood construction instead of the iron one?

The problem with qing Is that you run out of resources relative faster and when you expand towards Siberia you cannot move the population there,what i would give for an option to resetlement even if you have to pay to that to happen and even if that make that population radical

disagree with sitting on wood construction. it's more expensive per point of construction. run iron, import the iron and tools from russia and the uk, and as soon as you're done building the first stacks of construction build the iron mines so you can stop importing
