I do agree...However one discovers art, it's a bonus. Whether through a movie, radio, book - what have you - the discovery is not cheapened if I appreciate the art. I heard the song the first time on my radio of a Saturday morning when I was perhaps 9 or 10. Mom remarried I didn't grasp the point...The "message" if you will. However, I immediately associate the song with step-dad..."some man's gone and tried to run my life..." Obviously today I understand. Either way, GREAT song, GREAT artist!
ОтветитьDom brought me here Love u Dom ;D
Ответитьtimely (for me to find this - TA) - OMG I thought we had banned the bomb!
ОтветитьHate to say it but hes right
Ответитьthat was harsh strangled
Ответитьplease give me one reason why this movie isnt funny..... im not even gonna say one of the best movies comedies ever made (even tho it is)
ОтветитьI don't know exactly what about it wasn't funny, but I wasn't laughing. I really don't like any movie where Will Ferrell has a leading roll though so maybe its funny if you like his kind of humor.
ОтветитьThe funny thing was, I hated Anchorman the first time I saw it. But then I saw it again and found it hilarious. Some movies you have to have low expectations to find nice. Its one of those watch it again and find new things movies.
Ответитьlove this song!!
ОтветитьI'm with you, it's a shame.
Ответитьtoday on 107.9 in minnesota thats what brought me here lol
ОтветитьMorals? This was right after the decade of assassination, Of Campus riots the killing of student on three campus--(yes three there was more then Kent State) Right at the end of Separate but equal, Of Nixon (now there was a man of morals eh) Cool not being ignorant and illiterate. I guess you did dnot know many real life Fonzi, in real life those cool guys were monsters. Anti-social. Dude society is no different, you are just older and full of nostalgia
Ответитьrose-tinted glasses. check em up.
Ответитьnah, i think its pretty cool if someone watches a movie & an impression is imprinted of the song in they're mind . hell, otherwise they might not of ever had the pleasure of sharing it with someone less fortunate, or younger for that matter. our children need to keep these excellent songs alive even after we are just a memory. let the movies play all the good old music they want.
ОтветитьI concur
ОтветитьWhat are you? The music police?
ОтветитьSo this prevents you from enjoying the music?
ОтветитьGreat music should be shared. Listen to something because you like it. not to be different or to prove a point
ОтветитьYOU said it cheapens the music. If it doesn't keep you from enjoying it then why so serious? Jonathan Edwards apparently doesn't mind his song being in a movie. When you start writing songs and releasing records you can do whatever you want with your music
Ответитьgreat tune and tells a story back then and for sure nowadays.
ОтветитьPLEASE Let me Mirror this vid on my channel.. i will place a link to your channel's page but PLEASE let me mirror it.. This is one of my favorite songs of intolerance for this nations owners/goober-mint & i would Love to help spread its message. thanks either way

ОтветитьHe can't even run his own life
I'll be damned if he'll run mine
I really loved this song as a young man. In spite of it I still joined the military. The things you'll do to get out of town and draw a steady check….
I still love this tune. (And the military didn't stick)
I try a wee cover of this if anybody fancies a wee listen? Top tune.
ОтветитьVietnam War era protest song. I recall when this was tops on the AM hit charts. Although it goes against my political beliefs, I still enjoy the tune. CD

ОтветитьOne of the finest pop vocals I've ever heard :) :) :)

ОтветитьThis song was played a lot in the 2000's decade as it became about Bush and the Iraqi war.
ОтветитьThanks for posting this song! I saw Jonathan live, backing up the Allman Brothers Band, on Long Island way back when this song was released. Wonderful show!!!

Ответитьgreat songwriter from Ohio University...
Ответить✌️💜
ОтветитьI was lucky enough to paint his house in VA back in the day. Was cool he showed me his studio. At the time he was also doing a play on Broadway and aying a bit with the Ledgendary be Bluegrass group The Seldom Scene. I played guitar and harmonica and my partner played drums in a band. We sheepeslly asked if we could jam with him some time. As great avguy as he was he said sure..however, we were to intimidated..lol
ОтветитьThe son'gs not talking about America (greatest country in the world), ya idjit. It's talking about his father. smh It's a song about teen rebellion against an overly strict government - and if you're against America, you're a GD c0mmie that wants Daddy Government to take care of you. Instead of being a grownup that stands on your own two damned feet. This is one fo my favorite songs since it was a hit when I was a teen. My mother was overly strict. I related.
