A couple things here: What she's arguing about the fear of gangs is how Bukele has sold his authoritarian paradigm for El Salvador. He and his admirers would disagree with the conclusion that the "only inoculant" is due process, and right now he's winning the argument (though I don't share his ideas at all). My point is it's all nice and sweet to talk rainbows and unicorns, but eventually you'll have to show results. Dems have not done that on crime.

The other thing is I agree with the wisdom of not trying to argue with someone's feelings, but I disagree that the red-state anger is all based on facts or even personal experience.
